Well Drums is often done on a set of drums or a drum set. percussion is sorta more bongos, congas and shakers etc. Steve Gadd is currently in canada with JT and will be coming back in to the US soon doing more band of legends shows with him.

What do you think:

Does Steve Gadd prefer to tour with JT instead of Paul (it is the 2nd time now this happens), or is Paul just too slow to plan his tours and so Steve is booked for the summer already?

Bodo, you nailed it right on the head. James simply booked sooner than Paul did. we did not know Paul was going to be touring until April or may. JT´s tour had already began in may. so im guessing Paul had already known in advance that Steve would not be doing the tour. i doubt Steve enjoys doing JT more than Paul constiering that Steve had been doing the Paul gigs since the mid 70s. i think Paul was simply to slow to plan his tour and Steve was already booked. and one more think you have to remember Steve is always working so he needs advance notice often.

On Steve Gadd`s website early this year Simon was mentioned for spring and Taylor for summer.

But another point came to me after hearing two of his concerts now:

This band now is Simon`s band. In 1980 he stated that he was never member of a band and this was one great experience during making One-Trick Pony.

But all musicians were quite well known before as all his session musicians up to Graceland were. He chosed the best, and they of course became more famous because of working with Simon.

But these seven guys today are more or less famous only because of him. Great musicians before, but discovered by him as worlwide instrumental stars.

What is Ray Phiri doing these days? I hope he´s still around making music.
Is there an album by Stimela that you can recommend?
