BTW, I think it is also mentioned in the last Biography that Paul does not have the feeling He wrote the Song Bridge ... It came out of him..
So he must have said earlier already.

I had problems to understand what he means. I thought maybe because He had taken the phrase like a bridge over trouble waters from this reverent... I understand that He does not know exactly how he wrote it and He may not be able to reproduce this process and write a similar Song...

You mean He recently changed the Song so it Stands out of the AG Version? I just see He changed the Song about 6 or more times in his career. I still like the 1991 Version most.

I'm a little puzzled about the reason (s) for the negativity regarding AG at the Royal Albert Hall on 31st May 18.
We did attend - we were 5 rows from the front (not sure if anyone else here did here or is it just judgment of recordings made on smart phones?). AG was in fine form and he spoke positively about PS throughout.

A fabulous venue too.

Oh m and reappropiate is really an interesting Word. Had to look it up.
I perfectly understand it could mean to take the Song again from AG. But then this is such a long time ago that Paul really sang it live alone, it could even mean He has to used again to see it as also one of his solo songs, cause last time Sting did a very good Interpretation.. And before that it was a Simon and Garfunkel Version many years.
If I am not wrong then the last time Paul sang this Song on a Tour it was 2002... Long time ago. So reappropiate is maybe the right phrase.
I know He played it for Hillary 2016 and the overal response was that He was doing a very Bad Job... I am sure He was aware of that response (from Hillary haters), but then I think his alter ego must have told him to reinvent the Song and make it his own again.
The result is good.

Here's the 2016 link (don't read the comments!) -- PS also performed it during the superb 2016 tour (2nd night at The Royal Albert Hall etc).

I did not know He performed it 2016 at other Shows. I went to 2 Shows but there He did not Play bridge.
I think this new Version is better than the 2016 one for Clinton... Better adapted to his voice now.

Bodo, I always liked this website and the other old ones that are gone now were also a pleasure to visit. But not sure I should post here more often.... I get too frustrated by comments like down here and before I know it I am in a fight that I don't want to be in.

"Another big ego-trip from PS that tour..."

"Simonwonderland. Even the sound of him flushing the toilet must be great. Because that's the last tour..."

Thanks for welcoming me Bodo. I have said what I had to say and I am following Paul Simon each day. Lately an enitre concert of Paul Simon has been posted coming from Philadelphia. For "commion people" and reading all paper reviews Paul is still giving excellent shows and he is making a lot of fun really.

Regarding Art Garfunkel; more experienced members on this forum know - who in fact - Art Garfunkel was and still is.
I do not want to cause a fight for the only and simple thing: this is a Paul Simon site and not an Art Garfunkel one.Regarding this subject I am done!

Tnoght and on Wedneaday 20th June Paul Simon will close his USA FarewellTour. He will keep a rest for somewhat more than a week before ehading to Europe. I bought a ticket for his second night concert in Amsterdam ZiggoDome. Had some hesitations because I do not like such hugh performing halls but listening to Paul Simon each day keeps the doctor away!

Bodo: when I first heard the re-arangement of Bridge Over Troubled Water in this FareWellTour I had the ame idea like you are having. Of coure it has always been THE SONG of Paul Simon. But Paul was so stupid to give it to Art for the following simple reason: "beause Art had the better vocie". later on Paul spoke about the fact he regretted had given this song away to Art Garfunkel. I do not want to discuss when Paul Simon sang this BOTW-song. I liked the way he performed BOTW in the NDC in #philly. In fact all things went wrong what could have go wrong. Maybe most of the people were surprised seeing Paul Simon performing this song in stead of Art Garfunkel. Anyway I had no problem. Inded he performed this song - if I remeber well - this songs twice on the last two eves of his 2016 tour in his old neigborhood Stadium Forest Hill.

Bodo: I share your opinion that - maybe - this re-arangement of Bridge Over Troubled Water has a lot to do towards Art Garfunkel by giving this song "where it belongs to" Paul Simon. IMO Paul made it HIS masterpiece again like IT was when Paul Simon created this song at the end of 1969.
