I did not say you can't join Sue, I just said it is "non-public and closed group" (you see that 'lock' sign next to the words A.M.P.S on the top of the page). As an outsider you can't see anything inside, so why join it? It's like buying a book without even knowing the title. ;-)
And if someone wants to join someone else has to agree.

It is not a problem for me (personally), but I see nearly all active people left this page now and the real interesting "news" are shared only with a close group of 88 people, what is somehow not perfect (or is it?).
It keeps the whole paul simon fanbase smaller in my opinion, but who am I to blow against the wind ;-)

Anyway, thats development of time and internet. Maybe for myself it is enough to lurk on a.m.p.s a little bit and get my Paul Simon dosis.
But I see the dreamer of music closed their page because of less interest (one reason) and this happend to all other fan-based pages.

many many more.

Good or bad, who knows. Somehow the internet was a much diverse place in those times. Today it is facebook and google and everything's going straight to the NSA :-)

Well Bodo, let's not forget Tard dans la soirée....10 years of existence in February 2014.

I think we made it a closed group because it was originally an off shoot of the newsgroup that had become defunct because of people having lost access to a newsreader. Keeping it private does mean that we can keep trolls out of the group.

At the risk of starting a discussion I want to add my piece of mind.

First I want to say that I love this site, it has so much information about Paul's music career and his life and I had a lot of fun here.

I became less and less active here because I felt that often I had to defend Paul's way of living and the choices he made as an artist, often I don't understand the criticism here. I want to be his fan and enjoy the present and future things he does in his career. I understand that people like to talk about his past and the S&G years but for me that is all in the past. Facebook and twitter give me the opportunity to follow his present career.

Update: I still love his music from the past and love to see videos and dvds, especially from his solo career :)
