According to Mark Stewart (member of Pauls band) Paul will tour this summer the USA and later in fall they will come to Europe too.
Mark was on tour trough Europe last month with his own band ´Bang on a Can´ and the visited Slovenia, Slovakia, France and Spain. On their stop in Sevilla(Spain) some Simon fans had the chance to talk to Mark and asked him a few things about the new album and the following tour.
Stewart said about the new album that ´each song is a little symphony´ and ´if we are real Paul´s fans, we should be surprised by this album´. (free back translation: English-Spanish-English)
The main instrument on that album is the guitar, Mark played a lot of different guitars on the new songs, and he even played saxophone on it.
About the upcoming tour he said that the band will be smaller this time (at least we now know that Mark and Steve Gadd are in that band) and Paul will play some more older and unknown songs this time, songs from the 70s.
My own 2 Cents:
Even when the band is smaller I think we can expect that Paul will play standards like ´Late in the evening´ and ´You can call me al´ - having Mark as a saxophone player in my mind. I also think that he will have at least 1 percussion player (Jamey Haddad ?) and maybe Tony who is also playing now with Paul since 20 years and a important person on the harmonica. Bass player will possibly be Bakithi and I expect him to have a great name on the piano too, because the new album also features Herbie Hancock.
