Former road manager for Paul Simon stabbed to death

The road manager behind Paul Simon’s historic Graceland tour has been stabbed to death in his New York home, allegedly by his girlfriend.

Danny Harrison, 57, was stabbed at least twice with a long kitchen knife, police said.

His girlfriend, Kathleen Connors, was brought outside in handcuffs, barefoot, her jeans and feet spattered with blood.

Neighbours reported hearing a “raucous fight”, screaming, furniture being thrown and bodies slamming against the wall.

Connors told police that she and Harrison had argued when he complained the apartment was a mess and that he hit her on the head with his hand, sources told the New York Post.

She reportedly said she grabbed a knife to defend herself and then stabbed Harrison.

The fight happened yesterday at Harrison’s Manhattan apartment which lies in the shadow of the official New York Mayor’s residence, Gracie Mansion.

Harrison, who had two children and four step children, had recently produced cooking shows for the Food Network and handled events for MTV and VH1, but was best known as road manager for acts including Simon and Garfunkel, the Eagles and Billy Joel.

He managed Simon’s 1987 Graceland tour, which featured South African musicians taking a historic stand against apartheid.

In a 2003 interview, Harrison said his job included everything from setting up sound systems to ironing Boz Scaggs’ silk trousers.
