The nation´s fastest-growing serious developmental disorder, autism now affects 1 in 166 children in the United States, and a shocking 1 out of 104 boys. There are almost 1.5 million cases of autism in this country alone, with nearly 3 children being diagnosed every hour.

The Autism Speaks organization was launched earlier this year by Suzanne and Bob Wright, who have a grandson with autism. Bob Wright is the Vice Chairman and Executive Officer, GE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, NBC Universal. Autism Speaks seeks to help find a cure for autism by raising the funds that will quicken the pace of research, raise public awareness of autism, and give hope to those who suffer from the disorder.

Said Mrs. Wright: ´When Jerry approached us about doing a benefit for Autism Speaks, we were of course thrilled. With Paul Simon and Tom Brokaw joining him, I know this will be a spectacular evening and will draw much needed attention to this devastating disorder.´

´I became aware of autism through some friends who are dealing with it and it is heartbreaking. I wanted to do something to help address this problem and decided to do a show to raise funds for research,´ said Seinfeld. ´I was very impressed with the great work of Autism Speaks. I am happy to join forces with them and Bob and Suzanne Wright to help raise awareness of this prevalent issue.´

Paul Simon´s efforts on behalf of children´s health causes are widely heralded. When approached by Jerry Seinfeld to participate in this event he was eager to help.

Ticket prices begin at $100.00 and will be available through Ticketmaster beginning August 15. For more information about sponsorship, group sales, and/or an ad in the commemorative book, please contact 310.996.1188.

Autism Speaks is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization devoted to educating the public about autism, facilitating and funding research, motivating private and governmental resources, and, ultimately, finding a cure for autism. For more information, please visit autismspeaks.org.
