Hi
Has anybody been successful in getting to meet Paul for autographs/hand shakes etc after the show?
Has Paul been keen on doing this on this tour?

I tried to stick around the stage after the 5/29 show in Connecticut, but since it was in a casino and not a regular theatre venue where people would normally mingle, security politely told me to leave.

Maybe other venues were a bit different, but I´m not sure if he stuck around with the band or just promptly left after the show.

We happened upon him by chance in Toronto. We were chatting after the first night- 4 people going back to the States, and myself & a friend from Portland staying for the second show.
As we headed to the car lots & hotel, out he came...signed autographs, took pictures with fans, etc. ...but to anyone looking to do this, please be cool, & not loud & pushy- many folks had that fanatic, intense over the top vibe- which I don´t think it fun for anyone, least of all Paul.
I saw lots of band members after the Philly shows, but not Paul. I then ran into him twice in NYC, as we were waiting in line to get in, and happened to be at the stage entrance/exit, and he left & came back in by us. Happily all of us there respected that it was before the show & that deserved all the space any performer before a gig should be afforded. He complimented me on my Yankees tie-dye (he´d waved to me in a Yanks jersey at the end of the 1st Philly show, where I was 3rd row, & then at the start of the second night, where I was 2nd row.) & someone asked him if he was a fan- he replied where he grew up there was little choice about it, and that yeah, he loved the Yankees.
I´d say you´ve got a 50/50 shot. Either he´ll bolt & get back to the hotel to get sleep, or not have a pressing schedule & be able to accommodate the fans. Good luck!

I would think the stage door exit would be the place to be and we knew he didn´t have a show the next night. But it was
ice cold that night, I was dressed for 90 degrees and we just
didn´t have time to look for a stage door. We had very bad
timing that night, came out of the theater and froze and couldn´t find the ticket to where our car was parked and couldn´t even remember the name of the street. I thought I would freeze to pieces. Several people stayed to get t shirts but I wanted a tour booklet which I guess they don´t
have one, even on the official page.

I wished they had a tour booklet or a program -- didn´t recognize some of the newer songs and I couldn´t hear when they introduced the band. Still it was amazing!

Dublin was such a smal venue, they had only one door, the band came out to smoke a cigarette and was ständig next to the waitingline. I talked to Mark 2 sentences after the show.

Carol - funny, when I went to the concert (Toronto) I recalled to my son - the only time I had ever gone to a concert without knowing ALL the songs in advance. It was the 1983 S&G Summer Nights tour. The S&G album that was dropped provided a bunch of songs for the concert: Cars Are Cars, Song About The Moon. It was so strange trying to hear, understand, and remember. Fortunately since then AFAIK, ever tour has supported a new release!

We seen Paul arrive at Vicar St but his van went in the back of the venue and they closed the gates before anyone could look! I met Tony Cedras and Jim Rossi before the show and got pictures with them. Also met Bakhiti, Mark Stewart and Jim Oblon before the show

@ MOG- Just caught your comment. Yeah, really sorry & wish we could have hooked up. I missed Phil from Rochester too. The whole mad rush with the friend who lost her passport did kind of toss a monkey wrench into things for that first night...did try to email you though, if you recall. Hopefully we´ll have another opportunity when Paul tours more in North America this Autumn- I say "when", even though it´s not official yet...or if/when Simon & Garfunkel tour in 2012.

Did anyone get to meet Paul after his Nottingham show? Did he sign autographs and take photos with fans?

Hi,

a question about stand in line before the show. I guess the people that write in this forum are all great Simon´s fans, and when are in line for a concert, they wanted the best seat possible near of the stage. How many time you are in the line before the show start for have a good seat ? I will go to a near concert and I like be one of the first in the row.

Thanks.

At Nottingham we saw Tony Cedras outside before the show (having a cigarette). Afterwards we saw the band get on the bus and they spoke briefly, PS was driven straight out from an underground car park and waved from the car. No chance of an autograph but we did shake his hand during the show from the 2nd row.

Thanks Simon for the reply. I thought that might be the case at Nottingham as he had Glasgow just one day later, but with that being one of the few venues with a stage door that isn´t fenced off I thought I´d ask.
But they do have that option of the other exit as you mentioned, and I know a lot of the bigger names who play the venue use that.

Glad you got to shake his hand, very cool.
- Wayne
