 | This might be Old news, but today there was an hour-long documentary on swedish channel SV2 on Paul Simon and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. It was a british/american production. I have NEVER seen or heard of this documentary before, not on TV and nowhere online.
Anyway, I think its from 2005. A lot of funny segments, focus on the friendship between Paul and Lorne Michaels. A lot of clips were shown from Saturday Night Live in the 70s, segments that I have never seen and which are not on Youtube. Paul appearantly did A LOT of stuff with Saturday Night Live (I have only seen the chicken segment before).
It was definetely worth the watch - there were segments with Paul doing soundchecks, interviews with a lot of the members of his band (including Mark Stewart and Steve Gadd). There was a sort of "witty" and fun feel to the entire documentary, including a funny segment where Lorne and Paul pretended like they didn`t really like each other but were just doing the segment together without really wanting to. It`s definetly the funniest I have seen with Paul Simon in a long time. He also talked about Art Garfunkel, his songwriting and his then upcoming album "Surprise".
It was a very interesting documentary, and I reccommend all of you to check it out if possible. I don`t know if this show is anywhere to be found online for download. If so, please let me know!

 | Sounds alot like iconoclasts (which I´ve never seen, just heard about). Maybe it was or maybe it was really similar. Either way, I´d Love to see it. |

 | First thing that came into my mind was the Iconoclast program that featured both. I saw parts of it because my brother had it on his television one day. Not sure if it is the same or not. I can always use more Paul Simon viewing pleasures. hehe.

 | Hi Rune,
I think it´s iconoclasts too, but that was mentioned extensively on this site and you say that you´ve never heard of the documentary online... also I don´t really recall there being interviews with Mark Stewart on the iconoclast documentary. Maybe the norwegian station put a few clips together to make a new documentary of their own?
If you´d like a copy of the iconoclast documentary though let me know, I can send you a copy. |

 | It was probably iconoclast.
There WAS a segment where Mark Stewart talked briefly about the music of Paul Simon. I wouldn`t call it an interview in retrospect, but his name appeared onscreen while he was talking. I think I can say with certainty that no "tampering" or adding of extra clips has been made by the swedish channel. It was definetly the original programme.
How nice of you to offer to send me a copy, Nikki! (I don`t think I`ll need it though). |

 | Along these lines, but not really. Does anyone know what happened with Paul´s interview/film with the Dalai Lama? Has it been shown or released yet? That was like 2005 wasn´t it? |

 | Attempting to find an answer for you, Ian, I stumbled across this Old article from Mary Wald. It doesn´t give an answer for your question, but having never seen it before, it sparked a few questions in my mind. I will repost as a new forum.

I assume most everyone here has seen it, but being a bit young, I found it interesting! |

 | Ian - Haha, Never thought about why Harper tags-a-long. Maybe it was kinda like a family vacation - lol. Funny and very observant point!!! |

 | Just an afterthought, I wonder if Paul would ever agree to a cameo appearance like that, in that plot specifically. Maybe a few decades ago but not now I don´t think. |
