From TDOM sitio web:

´Paul is doing wonderful performances but now, by first time from his comeback to tours in 1999, it is very clear he is aging. On comparision with his performances on 2008 European Tour now he seems a bit slower and a bit less powerful. Fom close glancing his face shows evidences of some possible small sthetic touches (surgery, botox?). He also seems a bit tired, but it is being a megatour which started on April.´

Is it what you have seen during this tour ?!

Have not seen him in 2008.

He is doin a 25- 27 song show, more than in the last years. Most powerful songs still Late In The Evening and You Can Call Me Al (after 2 hours of singin and playing). I can not see any clear difference, except that he is not wearing a cape or hat, which obviously makes him look older now.

I would say there is no difference, he never was a guy who moved around on the stage a lot or made any fast moves. Maybe he was still a little bit ill in Paris(?)...if I have a cold I need 2 weeks or more to recover :-(

No gossip about the botox story...thats nothing new since 10 years or so ;)

I thought he looked great in Seattle - even close up at a small venue. Of course, the two concerts I saw were the first two of the tour. His voice was very strong and clear. He probably is still recovering from his upper respiratory virus. I would think he would be exhausted by now. When I saw him last August close up and personal at the C.P. Capeman show, he looked wonderful, rested and fit. He did have a hat on. I agree he looks a little older with his gray hair, but I like him that way as long as he keeps it cut short. He seemed very energetic and even much younger than his age - or perhaps I was looking at him through the eyes of Love....especially after the hug!

I don´t understand this kind of comment : he was great in Brussels and Paris ; I´m sure his respiratory problem in UK was solved ; his voice was strong ; he moved, smiled, laughed. Just what I want to enjoy ! other matter has no importance for me.

Great voice, great face, great movements, yesterday, very close to the end of the tour.
And after 2 hours and 15 minutes, after 27 songs, he was still smiling and talking as nothing was happened.
I was more tired than him...and I´m 43.

I can´t imagine what this person is thinking -- most people in their 20´s couldn´t tolerate this kind of touring schedule. I saw Josh Groban, who is 30, this past weekend, and I bet he´s exhausted at the end of his tour.

As for looking older, all of us get older -- consider the alternative.

I must say, when I saw him at the Brooklyn Academy of Music shows (´08), I was concerned. he performed sparingly - as the show was built with guest performers. But, I truly wondered if he had another tour of this magnitude in him. For the first time, seemed Old. But I must say: saw the 2 toronto shows - and yes, he´s 69 and you can tell Stewart is running the show on stage and the band Simon relies heavily on the band . . . but it rates among the best concerts I´ve ever seen.

I too was at the 2 Toronto shows - I thought he was a bit under the weather at the Massey Hall show (which he was), but the next night at Sound Academy was much improved (maybe says more about the audience that night).

I also attended the 2 New York shows a week later.

These shows were/are great. Just looking at the ITunes concert shows he is still fantastic after all these years. For someone close to 70 years Old he is performing very very well. Alot of this has to do with the quality of his band as well. They are exceptional.

That said, at the shows I attended, I too did notice he was a bit more aged (both vocally and movement wise, and did visually look tired at the end of the shows) in comparison to the 2008 concerts I attended. Thats not a criticism, just an observation.

My concerts this year are once again wonderful memories and I attended these in the belief that these would be my last chance to see him performing live. I don´t expect we will be doing this again and reviewing these in another 10 years time?

Then again, back in 1999 I attended those concerts thinking the same thing, and got the chance to encore again in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, and 2011

I definetely think that Paul is very lucky to have Mark Stewart in his band. Stewart is probably the best band musician I have ever seen. Of course Paul´s voice has changed during the last twenty years, but I really think that it is better and stronger now than it was on the 2000 Paris show. If you compare him to others from his generation, his voice is probably among the best. James Taylor and Cat Stevens (Yusuf) are also still doing great.

For me - this tour is by far and away his best for over a decade.

Made even better because everyone seemed relaxed and to be enjoying themselves immensely (in the band as well as, of course, the audience).

I played the iTunes concert to some Friends on Sunday (the full show).
During SOS everyone was quiet and stared at the screen, you just can´t resist that magic song, and his voice is incredible good and powerful and also clear. Saying that I also want to add: In those moments you see he can get the full attention of the complete audience without the help of the band or Mark.

When I listen to The Obvious Child I sometimes wonder how young he sounds, it is not different to 1991.
Watch Late In The Evening (after 2 hours of show), and you see Paul is still moving around and gesturing..not slow I think)

Colour the hair the color of mood, and he will definately not look older than in 2006 or 2008.

BTW: What on earth is the pianoman doin during the start of Kodachrome. You see him for 2 seconds during the intro...and I am sure he showed us his middle finger into the camera)

Of course he ages - so what?

I saw him both in 2008 and this year, and noted no difference. I should add, though, that I am not good at spotting such things... But everybody ages, remarks of that kind are a bit trivial, I think.

What a pathetic, dumb and superficial post!

I thought Paul Simon was fantastic in London this year, hitting all the right notes and having an energy that was really exciting to watch (even though still recovering from the sore throat). He seemed hungry to make it a great gig and he and the band were as tight as could possibly be - playing solidly for over two hours.

Of course people get older! But so what?! Look at how amazing Leonard Cohen was on his recent tour.

Does the writer of this post think that playing live music is only for twenty somethings?

One of the joys of following an artists like Paul Simon, or Leonard Cohen, is how they age with their music and how songs you heard many years ago have a different resonance as they get older. There are only a few artists who endure long enough for this to happen - treasure it!

It really is somewhat of a strange comment.

We can all agree that Paul is performing at a very high level regardless of his age. And bringing his age into consideration, his form is simply astonishing.

Still it would be idiotic to think his aging is not showing. They write:

"Paul is doing wonderful performances but now, by first time from his comeback to tours in 1999, it is very clear he is aging".

Does that mean they think Paul looked and acted the same in 2008 as in 1999? Of course he did not. Or does it just mean, that this time the aging was more evident than between any other succeeding tours? In that case, I really disagree. I saw him in Paris 2008 and in Dublin 2011, and when it comes to energy, moving, talking and (most importantly) the singing, I consider the 2011 show to be highly superior.

Of course he looks something like three years older, but is that in any way important?
