 | Any guesses as to what he´ll play? I was hoping he´d get to do three songs (didn´t McCartney get to do three on his last spot there?)...but on the official Facebook page it said he was doing two songs from the new album & appearing in a sketch.
I was hoping for three songs off the new album, or at least two new ones, and an oldie.
I´d tend to think that he knew about this gig at the time he did Jimmy Fallon and that he won´t likely repeat any songs he did then...though some were website only- "Love Is Eternal Sacred Light" I think was website only, as was "Vietnam"/"Mother & Child Reunion". I think he did "Cecilia", "The Afterlife" & "Rewrite" on the show proper- please correct me if I´m wrong.
So...my best guesses, if it´s no repeat...
1) "Dazzling Blue"- Probably my fave song on the album, and I´ve heard Paul say he thought it was the most interesting track on the album. He´s also chosen to do this at every show of the tour.
2) "So Beautiful Or So What"- Another one that he´s done for every show of the tour.
Other Possibilities...
A) "Love Is Eternal Sacred Light"- Probably my second fave song on the album, and I think it was website only involving Jimmy Fallon. He´s done this at almost every show of the tour, so I think it´s possible since most people didn´t see the first performance.
B) "Rewrite"- Again, another one done at every show of the tour...but it would mean a repeat from the Jimmy Fallon performances.
C) "Questions For The Angels"- A dark horse- done on a handful of dates this tour...
D) "Love & Hard Times"- Another dark horse- done on a handful of dates this tour...
E) "The Afterlife"- It´s be a repeat of a Fallon performance, but it is the single, and it´s been done, I think, a couple more times than choices C & D.
F) "Getting Ready For Christmas Day"- A final dark horse- performed infrequently on the tour...but a long time ago, it was the first single, performed on The Colbert Report, and so favored as to be chosen as the lead off track of the album...In the mini-doc, Paul mentions that when he finished it he related to Edie that he thought it was one of the best tracks that he´d done in ages. |

 | How great would it be if he pulled "Love and Blessings" straight out of left field?
I´m excited to see Paul Simon in a sketch, possibly with the actor Ed Helms displaying some of his own musical talent as well.

 | He has yet to perform "Amulet" on this tour, but he has done so before. He´s never performed "Love & Blessings" to the best of my knowledge, but that would be a bold move...and not one I think he´ll make.
I think he could even sneak in "Amulet" as something of a prologue for "Questions For The Angels"...the movement between those two song is probably my favorite segue on the album...
I think he´ll do one that´s more upbeat, and then something that´s either a ballad, or similar. So I´m betting the slower one will be "Dazzling Blue"- not that that´s real slow, but doing that one & "Questions For The Angels", or "Love & Hard Times" would be too mellow me thinks. So I´m betting on "Dazzling Blue", and probably the title track, though I´d love to see "Love Is Eternal Sacred Light" alongside "Dazzling Blue"...if he did those two, or any combo of those two, then a perfect third would have been either "Questions For The Angels", and/or "Love & Hard Times"...oh well... |

 | ...or...lo these many years later, I´d Love it if, after the two songs from the new album, he closed the show with "Here Comes The Sun" (having done it, and "Homeward Bound" with George Harrison in ´76- when he hosted & George was his musical guest- possibly the greatest episode of the show ever...) |

 | I thought "Rewrite" was very good, and "So Beautiful Or So What" was pretty great. I´d hoped he´d three songs, and that he wouldn´t repeat anything he´d previously done on Jimmy Fallon ("Rewrite" was done there), so I was rooting for the title track, and "Dazzling Blue" actually...and hoped if he´d repeated anything that it´d be "Love Is Eternal Sacred Light" (which was only a website exclusive when he did Fallon before).
I can say that "Rewrite" was better both times I saw him & better on Jimmy Fallon as well...

...but I still thought it was quite good. I think the title track came off even better, but again that it´s been even better than this both of the times that I´ve seen him. I think the sound on Jimmy Fallon is just better than on SNL for sure. |

 | Paul performed "Rewrite" and "So Beautiful Or So What." He also appeared in a skit as himself on the parody talk show "What Up With That." One of the on-going gags on "What Up With That" is that Lindsay Buckingham (portrayed by Bill Hader) is always a guest on the show but never gets to speak because he´s always interrupted by the host, portrayed by Kenan Thompson. This time, "What Up With That" had not only Bill Hader´s impersonation of Lindsay Buckingham but the real Lindsay Buckingham as well.
Paul´s voice sounded like he´s 100% over the viral infection. The band sounded great. "So Beautiful Or So What" really hit a nice groove. I actually liked "Rewrite" better than the two concert performances I´ve seen. I thought it was a little odd that the camera zoomed in on Paul on the guitar solo. Although Paul was in fact playing, most of what we heard was Mark Stewart who was off-camera. |

 | Both songs came off very well -- I haven´t watched SNL in many years and didn´t recognize anyone else except the young man from Glee. The audience seemed to respond well to both numbers -- good job! |

 | Carol, Lindsay Buckingham (the real one, not Bill Hader) was in Fleetwood Mac for many years and wrote many of that band´s most popular songs. |

 | I thought his performance of "So Beautiful Or So What" was really strong! He sounded almost tired on "Rewrite" but I still Love that song.
His face was priceless when Keenan Thompson started singing during the interview.
Does anyone know where to find those title cards they show before a performance or sketch? The picture of Paul with his band was real sweet. |
