This illustration there is a little bit heavy...

Not sure what was the goal of the painter, but it looks like as if Paul is undergoing some face-reconstruction processes after a heavy accident.

Would you be happy with a painting like that of yourself? :-)

I know Bodo. I find that picture a tad repellent actually. And what do you make of the album title. What could the title mean? :) The analytical types among us will no doubt be offering their interpretations on these 5 simple words the moment they read them. ´I have no opinion about that´ though, and simply can´t wait for the album to be released. PS- Incidentally,I Love Sondheim´s ´Sweeney Todd´. The songs are beautiful.

Hey thanks for links.

Always fascinating to learn a new title...it happens rarely, every 5 or 6 years.

I guess it is the title of a song, but let´s start the speculation (!)...

I am wondering if this is Simon´s response in a way to his career path since the ´90s. Making beautiful stuff, but greeted in complete indifference (except for Capeman!).

So great to finally hear some news. A very interesting review by Paul might I add. It´s always great to hear his take on different genres and artists. "So Beautiful Or So What" already makes me smile, I Love Paul´s wry sense of humor.

It is really an interesting title.

Maybe these where the 2 reactions Paul got when he played the new album to his family...friends.

Edie: So beautiful
Children: So what?
Artie: So beautiful
Dalai Lama: So what...
Loren: So beautiful
Steve Martin: So what!

I joined this site not too long before Surprise was released and now we await another. It was so exciting then and now we will wait again. Both Steve Gadd and Edie Brickell´s album is due after the first of the year in January and now Paul´s too. It seems like forever to wait.

Harper is working on an album, too, but I forgot to ask him when it would come out or what it was about.

Of course I´m thrilled.
My only "but": but I wish it were before christmas, only because I think it would result in higher sales. YTO released in October, a month before gift buying season - went gold. Surprise was May I think, never made it to gold. I just think at a time when it´s difficult for a 69 yr Old to have a breakthrough, you oughta look for every advantage: IE holiday sales.
