 | Thank you for asking-It was super-just like having Paul in my living room. I did not take notes, but he opened with SOS (to me a totally new musical version), Mrs R, Slip Sliding and Boxer. He was so close and the room area seemed so small-about 30 x 20m with Paul on state 20 feet away.
To me he seemed in great voice, pleasant to listen to and fairly chatty.
He had only Mark Stewart with him and only quiet instruments such as a flute like one, cello and guitar which Mark played (and sang on Slip) and of course Paul and his guitar. I guess, acoustic guitar, not electric.
Nancy, Paul F and a friend Gary got to sit at one table and Paul and gary got some nice pix and sound and Nancy took notes so their reviews and comments will be more accurate.
But it was a great night. When one goes to a concert (for me the Beacon one), Paul certainly plays a lot more songs and puts on a great show with the band etc, but this was a great setting, very relaxed and quiet and Paul certainly sounded wonderful. I am pretty sure he only played the older, more recognizeable songs, but then again, I do like his slow ballad songs, myself. |

 | Thanks Barb for a great summary of last night´s wonderful event at the Hard Rock Cafe, NYC. I agree that it was a special opportunity to see Paul and Mark perform in such an intimate setting (a restaurant!) Also, somebody mentioned at one point, no ties in the Hard Rock - so, it surely wasn´t a stuffy atmosphere.
Paul and Mark´s setlist was as follows:
Sounds Of Silence - acoustic intro like CP ´91 version, bluesy vocals at times changing the melody a little when he sang "left its seeds while I was sleeping" - nice how he can change up these songs a little in a way that makes them still fresh. Mark´s cello came in after "in restless dreams I walked along." It was a very touching version of this song.
Mrs. Robinson/Not Fade Away - very fun and loose performance with Rocking version of Not Fade Away with Mark slapping a drum beat on his guitar body and Mark adding wonderful harmony vocals. The "every way you look at it you lose" line got it´s usual applause and laughter.
Paul made a comment after this song that was initially hard to hear, followed by "...all about Art Garfunkel." Did any other attendees catch what he said?
Slip Slidin´ Away - with Mark playing a counter harmony/melody on a recorder, I believe. New musical and vocal arrangement during the chorus and at the end of the song -"away and away and away."
The Boxer - once again started with "A poor boy..." See comment and video that follows. Beautiful mutual guitar work between Paul and Mark at the end of the song.
Me and Julio - very upbeat and rocking version.
Paul seemed to be in a really happy and fun mood. I was so suprised when he stopped in the middle of perfoming The Boxer to tell a nice antedote about an encounter with a Mom and her young son as Paul was leaving his apartment. I know so many of you would be interested in this out of the ordinary item, so here´s a video of it.

I didn´t see Paul hanging around before or after the show, so I didn´t get to ask him about the release date of the new album and what the title of it will be! Well, we will all find out soon enough, I´m sure.
Barb, Nancy, and Gary - I´m so happy that we had a chance to share such a great evening together. |

 | Thanks for that video. That´s so great. I think it´s rare Paul interacting that way with his audiance. (And so much better than Art pointing at some someone in the audiance while singing that line)
I enjoy Paul singing live so much! I don´t know what it is that touches me. Is it his relaxed way of performing, the sound of his voice, the great artist he is? I don´t know but I can listen to it for hours. |

 | I might be wrong, but I think when Art Garfunkel points he´s pointing in the direction of Seventh Avenue. At least, that´s what I always thought because the only performances I´ve seen were filmed in New York.
I think pointing at someone in the audience while saying that line would likely get him punched. |

 | You´re probably right and I don´t think it was meant that way. But I always get that impression also because you get to see someone at the big screen. |

 | Nice video Paul, thank you
I see many of you still got a ticket
:-) - I am just curious, did you all get an invitation for that event? (Because I was asked to delete the news about that show immediately, someone from the Wildlife... wrote me and said they do not want to have any other guests, only invited guests and so...)

 | Bodo,
I had called and secured by ticket just around the time you had first posted the link. There were three empty seats or so just at our table, so I´m not sure why they were so selective about selling tickets for the event.
Anyways, thanks for making this forum available to let us know of such wonderful events.
Best regards,
Paul |

 | And you told me not to go Barb, And
Nancy told me she was not going. And
Paul never answers messages, I have no
idea of who he is. Very sad feeling. |

 | Cher, you must have misunderstood. I didn´t say I wasn´t going. I always hoped to go after I heard about it. |
