I finally got to listen to the interview and I´m really looking forward to the new album now :) It was very nice to hear how thrilled and impressed Doyle Lawson was to work with Paul and Phil Ramone. The album will be Americana, which is a very interesting style. He talked about how Paul has not any boundaries in music, how he hears the music in his head and heart and that Paul is so into different rhythms. How he liked the quartet and the vocals of the group and how he makes it all work, working backwards, they started working at the end of the song. I heard and read most of these things in other interviews and articles over the years but it is nice, very nice to hear it again :)

After watching few clips on youtube... I am not sure that this group is the one I want Paul to work with....

Would you have the same reactions if you had listened to Urubamba, the Dixie Hummingbirds or M.D. Shirinda and the Gaza sisters ?

And Paul made great things with them...

I am pretty sure it sounds excellent. Paul just takes 2 things, mix them together, and something really new will be created.

I agree with Bodo 100% !

Not all his collaborations were marked by success (Ex : Capeman), but lots of them were.

I believe Paul is at his best in these circumstances. And to allude to our S&G debate, that´s the kind of stuff that makes me still going forward and proud of being a PS fan.

By the way, do you think that this range of sounds could allow a musical participation from Steve Martin (banjo) ? Let´s remember that last year, Paul aknowledged publicly that he really liked Martin´s album...

For me, all this seems completely in line with Simon´s Love with gorgeous and rich voices he heard originally in doo-wop. Think about the Dixie, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the a capella stuff from the Capeman, and many others we have heard in his music.

Great news that Paul Simon is working on a new album! Hopefully it will bome out this year and I´m sure Paul Simon will make great music once again.

Blue grass is a bit different but I think Paul will put his own impression on blue grass rather then to make "just" a bluegrass record.

Wow!

A Paul Simon Album instead of S&G in 1983 and now a Paul Simon Tour promoting a new album instead of S&G?

Would like it!

AG should be careful with his hoarse voice and wait until it gets better again, sharing a park bench quietly with Emily or Mrs. Robinson in The Sound of Silence.

I don´t think I´ve anticipated the release of an album with this much excitement in a long while. Paul is not the most prolific writer,so would it be correct to assume that the few songs he´s released or played over the last couple of years may be on the album?

I would think so Ian.

But maybe the instrumental song he wrote for another artist (can´t remember at the moment any details) will not be included.

So the only song might be - questions for the angels...?
