I´ve got this marked as a favourite in youTube, really excellent. There was a video which has been removed that had Andy Williams explaining how he came to have them on the show and they chose that song. He said he saw their concert, two voices one guitar, amazed by the simplicity of the sound. This is the only live performance I know where the Canticle is sung. In the Old Friends Live on Stage DVD Mark Stewart plays the melody on Cello, which I thought was great.
Hi Helen, Thank you for the info . I really Love this video. It is a beautiful version of a lovely song and yes the only one I have seen too sung live with the canticle. Yes,Mark is very talented and also a very friendly person. one of my friends had tickets near the front at one of the Sydney shows last year and he came on stage before the show.and spoke to them. She thought he was a stage hand! my ticket was right op the back bit still an awesome show , especially Paul solo. Back to the video,its hard to believe nearly 42 years Old. they look so young !!

I really wish now that I went to the S&G shows in Melbourne this year. Had an opportunity to get tickets with my sister, but decided I didn´t want to see them in their 60´s but bought the Concert in Central Park (1981)DVD instead. That has brought on an obsession with S&G and PS, and that´s all I´m listening to, it also has forced me to keep up with the kids on downloading from iTunes and now youTube.
Hi Helen. sorry you missed the Melbourne concerts. I went to the Sydney one on the 23 rd June with my sister. It was magic and honestly the best concert i have ever been to. My only regret I did not splash out and get front row tickets!Next day I got every dvd and cd that JB Hi Fi had in stock, including Concert In Yhe Park , which is fantastic. For my Chrissie pressie to me I ordered video ´s Born At The Right Time from Paul which is a great documentary and Paul´s Concert In The Park 1991 which is brilliant My favoutite S and G cd is BOTW and Paul´s Surprise which just grows and grows on you, In my opinion his best ever work. I first saw Paul in England in the early 60´s before coming to Oz and would never have beleved then that I would see him again 45 years later in Sydney.Life is strange. I am lucky my kids have married and moved out and I can download and listen to the boys as much as I like.
I checked out Ellgee82´s Youtube channel and Andy Williams explains about S&G towards the end of the 1965 to 1967 part.

Thanks for the advice. I think I´ll get Paul´s Concert In The Park 91 next, and the Born At The Right Time, I Love the documentaries and the talk show video clips and the SNL Paul Simon Special. I would love to have been around in the 60s in the folk clubs to see just Paul with guitar singing those great early songs.

The boys were only in their 20´s when they were on Andy William´s show.
This is so beautiful. It´s nice to see it performed in the manner it was intended by Paul and that could only be done in the studeo...I remember hearing or reading that after Paul and Arte had finished recoring the tracks they went into the studeo, lit a load of candles, started up the tape, and layed down amongst the candle smoking pot and listening to Scarborough Fair....lol
