 | Thanks for the link Mog. After listening to the youtube video of PG´s version of The Boy In The Bubble I wasn´t too sure about the project but listening to the podcast now I have to change my mind, this sounded much better, also the other song parts sounded interesting. What makes the project even more interesting is that the artists whose songs PG has recorded are returning the favour by each recording a song of PG which will be heard on a forthcoming companion volume, I´ll Scratch Yours. It will be very interesting to hear Paul´s version of Biko.

 | I really appreciate Gabriels version of The Boy In The Bubble. Okay, it might be bare of its rhythm, but it´s definitely recognized as a Paul-Simon-Song, a performance I could imagine Paul Simon would consider to do by himself. Indeed, I think this is very special about this one song among of all the others. Bowie would never do this Heroes-Thing here like Gabriel done it. |

 | It´s a Podcast, not on YouTube. mog posted the link (above).
On YouTube there is another song from the "Scratch"-Album to be found. It´s "The Book Of Love" from Stephin Merritt/Magnetic Fields. On that Song there wasen´t much to change and the original might be more authentic, less pathetic.
Here is the link for this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q_JkwXoJLk&fea ture=related |

 | I hadn´t seen mog´s link, sorry. Thanks anyway. It´s an interesting version of the song, very quiet. I like it, but I prefer Paul´s version. |

 | Thanks for the info Ute. I hope we don´t have to wait till the last full moon for the Simon/Gabriel digital 45.
Are you going to a concert from Peter Gabriel in Berlin? There are nice Ticket Packages, a bit pricey but you get to see the soundcheck, a very good seat, the album and a T-shirt.

 | Hi Ans,
please don´t remind me!
Unfortunatly, I´m to short on either: time and money.
But a friend of mine will go. So at least I can expect a first-hand-report.
There is always a chance he will do some gigs later in Germany. And maybe that would be even better because he likes to perform on smaller locations.
Meanwhile there is a confirmation to some gigs in the States too next April. You will find that somewhere in the News of his HP. |

 | Quite interesting album IMHO !
I am now proceeding to a 2nd listening.
BITB is finally a great achievement...very calming track, and it brings the listener to really focus on the amazing lyrics. |

 | Peter Gabriel Guides Us Through New Album Scratch My Back
The Quietus , January 28th, 2010 (song introductions by Nige Tassell):
excerpt:
´The Boy In The Bubble´
Another audacious choice and again the pace is near funereal and the arrangement sparse. Stripped of the bounce of Paul Simon’s original, the song takes on a contemplation and poignancy that wasn’t always apparent. When Peter sings, “These are the days of miracle and wonder”, the incredulity in his voice is nothing short of palpable.
Peter Gabriel: The second track in and it’s again one of my favourites, taken from Graceland which was a very big album for lots of people, which was full of joyful African exuberance. But what many people didn’t notice, and I didn’t at first realise, was what an extraordinary lyric this is. I think it’s one of the best rock/pop lyrics written in the last 25 years. It is quite dark and troubled and when you strip it back different layers are exposed. I received some good feedback from Paul by email this week saying much the same thing.
When I first talked to John about this song and the album in general I asked for very emotional, sparse arrangements - I really wanted for the songs and the words to speak.
This is probably the emptiest and stronger as a result. Paul is obviously one of the great American songwriters and has an amazing catalogue of wonderful material - great melodies and words. We discussed a few different tracks together and this was one of Paul’s top four recommendations.

 | Fantastic version!
Thanks Ute, I didn´t expect it so soon :) Great guitar arrangement, great singing and I guess Mark Stewart is playing the Cello.
This is why Paul should stop touring with S&G and work on another solo album, heck, I never thought I would say this, if there is no inspiration for new songs Paul could do some great covers :)
