 | My country goes a bit gaga about July 4th, which I don´t particularly agree with. This 1st year of Barak Obama - I´ll turn a blind eye..... and then I saw this list of great Americans etc in todays paper and look who is number one in the music section

 | So Paul outclassed Gershwin, Miles Davis and Bob Dylan in Ireland, time for a new solo tour :) |

 | Hopefully its on its way Nick I order the "CD" on amazon and hope that is the DVD.
With one journalist anyway Ans. I´d prefer some time spent on creating more songs for a new album.
Heading to Rod Stewart tomorrow - great not to have to worry about getting close to stage! |

 | Hi Scaaty,
I was only joking, I don´t like to say to an artist what he should do.
I also hope for a new album but also hope to see him live again.
Have fun tomorrow.

 | thanks Ans, I must say I do enjoy the build up to non Paul Simon concerts - basically because there isn´t any! and i not driving the poor husband demented to get to the concert hours earlier. Rod Stewart is his choice, but he puts on a good show anyway (Rod i mean, not the t´other half) |

 | I know what you mean Scaaty, I have the same experience with my husband, I too drive him crazy to get to Paul´s concerts hours earlier ;-) It was a pleasure to be on my own in Stuttgart last year with some other hardcore fans.
And I meant to say have fun tonight :) |

 | Hi Scaaty and Ans. Must say that Stuttgart was the last concert I´ve been to. And one of the best. It`s probably more difficult to convince people on a jazz event when they have to spent extra money for an artist. Paul Simon made it.
Did never see Rod Stewart. He is a great singer but "Sailing" or "Do you think I´m sexy" are not my favorites.
Did see Elton John and Fleetwood Mac, who also are too much on the soft side. Not Mccartney; but Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, which was disappointing because they play every note like on the records. Like Mark Knopfler. |

 | Well, having seen Rod last night I´ll not be going again. He is past it, he only started getting into the concert after his 20 minute break.
As happened with S&G the sound went so you couldn´t hear the singing only the music. but the crowd could only take over for the chorus.
The sax player was a leggy blonde in a short skirt who when shown on the big screen the camera lingered on her legs. Mark Stewart eat your heart out !!
The concert was 2 hours long including a 20 minute break half way through. At 10.30 towards the end of Sailing a video came up of Rod getting into a car then the lights went up and a message on the screen stated "ROD has left the building" and that was that! no cheers no encore nothing.
There was also a hooligan element in the crowd - massive amount of drinking. there were fights, bad language, impatient queueing people being sick etc and that was just the women!! |

 | It was the same at North Sea Jazz last year, Paul made it also there, the audience was definitely convinced. I was there with my son and my brother, both very much into jazz, they were really impressed by Paul :)
I saw Mark Knopfler with Emmylou Harris when they toured together after their collaboration album. I must say he impressed me more than Emmylou did.
