Thanks Rosie,it must be irritating when someone yells such things from the darkness, especially considering that for most of us,there would be little to complain about with setlists like those Paul treated the audience with on the weekend.

I wish people would have the sense to show an artist the basic courtesy and respect they deserve.

And is Charley Drayton now replacing Steve Gadd in the band?

Thanks Ans for the video links from the other thread :)

I agree with you Nikki.

Life isn´t always fair, many fans would have wanted to be there to take the complainer´s place, I know I would have enjoyed every single moment :)

Steve Gadd is very busy with other projects, I check his website sometimes. It was always a pleasure to see Steve play with Paul but I think Charley does also very good job.

I´m glad we have the video´s on youtube :) and who knows, maybe a nice bootleg in the future...

Yikes...

I do not know what to think.

Personally, I would have enjoyed every moment too.

But I remember that ticks were very expensive and that many concertgoers to Paul Simon shows go there probably for S&G and Graceland nostalgia. That´s all.

If that sentence was shouted when he began Love and Hard Times, it was very rude: "I am not interested in new songs, play us the Old ones dinosaur!".

It is true that 4 Capeman songs were a lot, probably too much, although knowing Paul´s music deeply, that stuff is much more Simon (doo-wop, ´50 rock´n roll, etc.) than the S&G folk. But that it is not what people remember Simon for. So...

Also, I noted that "Surprise" disappeared from the screen radar (I have never considered F&D as a true "Surprise" output).

Anyway, "maybe I think too much". Hope that everybody who attended had a good time. Congrats to Paul who made the event.

Whoopi Goldberg from the television show "The View" also gave it a rave review. She especially enjoyed Old Friends which seems to have more meaning to us older folks with each passing year. She said that the whole show was wonderful.

Hi mog - he played How Can You Live In The Northeast on Saturday.

So I don´t think Surprise disappeared.
I wish he would not only play You´re the one from this album, The Teacher, Hurricane Eye are better songs IMO.

"Play songs we know" - the answer should have been - go home, sit down to your computer and download the songs you know. We know better.

Good point Bodo!

One song I would really Love is "Love" ! I think he played a few times in 2000-2002, but not that much. The studio track is gorgeous, percussions are amazing, plus the sitar guitar. I am still scratching my head why Simon did not do a 3rd chorus on this one. Anyway, I guess Love might be difficult to recreate on stage.

By the way, I have always found that they never really captured the punch and great rhythm of the F&D studio track. The live version has always been played soft without a solid groove. I guess many will disagree, but...

F&D - well it is a nice song, but not outstanding. I really was surprised when he was nominated for an Oscar. And Paul is still playing this one at every show - I guess it is something very private.

In the "recent" material, F&D is kind of a hit...

I really like F&D, the original version. The sound of it is very original - and at the same time it is very Simon. I like the few 1st chords. It makes me think about stars. I do not why...

By the way, I really like the comment I think in RS about Paul´s voice. You know, as a PS fan, people have told me over the years: "oh, Simon was the composer, but Art was the one who really had the voice". That´s what people remember...the cliché. And now, people like this guy actually recognize the contribution to music, but also the geat state of his voice. Good !
