 | I think that is really shamable.
This is a benefit show - and the people who earn the most money with it, are the ticket dealers. I do not understand that system, and why it is allowed. (I really do not understand it - for a private person it is not allowed to sell the ticket at the theater doors - but for a company it is allowed to sell these tickets for a price 4 times higher than the real ticket price?) I don´t get it. |

 | There are so many offers on Ebay. Seems that a lot of people buy ticktes just to sell them for a higher price there.
But why is it a benefit? I thought these two concerts a "normal" concerts to reopen the Beacon. |

 | if you are talking just about the money, then:
one thousand american dollars.. hm.. the price is beyond the clouds.. it´s not even an average month income in Russia. I need to put by my scholarship for about a year.
However i suppose this price is worth that - just if you have never attended the Paul Simon concerts |

 | I am a big fan - and for me it is not worth that money. Never.
Although I travelled to the USA in 1999 to see my first PS concert, I only paid 40$ for the tickets (and not the 250$ to sit on the main floor). And the travels main reason was not to visit a Paul Simon concert...I just combined that. I had a lot of fun for these 40$, dancing around.
I never paid more than face value - and last time in London I paid LESS than face value for a 5th row ticket on ebay. Had luck.
If you imagine that Paul would only get around 25-40 $ per ticket, why should some guy on ebay earn a few hundred for doing nothing ???
Just don´t pay it - in the end tickets will become cheaper again.

 | Believe it or not, these tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster, the company selling the tickets for the Beacon Theater. There are some around 90 in the upper balcony... |

 | Am I the only one who finds it strange that Paul would rehearse for only two shows? Are there any rumors of a tour? |

 | But why would it be strange ?
I guess they just have to pick up where they left at the end of the 08 summer tour...unless musicians/arrangements have changed...no ?
And why would he tour more ? There is no new album and he did US extensively in 06. |

 | I would find it strange if he would not rehearse for the concerts. People pay a lot of money for it and have a right to hear musicians who are not just improvising. It is not that easy to get such a tight sound on very complex songs.
And no matter who good a musician you are, it simply makes more fun to play in front of an audience, when you know that you are well prepared. |

 | It´s not "work" for them; they probably have a great time getting together and doing what they enjoy!! |

 | hm.. well Paul is always doing nearly the same songs at his shows, so the band really knows what will happen, and they do not have to rehearsal these songs (I guess Steve Gadd knows how to play 50 ways, and Bakithi has learned Diamonds in the last 22 years).
A short soundcheck with or without Paul, thats it I guess.
Remeber - this band is now playing since 10 years together(and that only counts for Andy Snitzer, Mark and Jamey... Bakithi, Steve and Vincent are doin the same job now since 20-30 years. :)
I hope he will tour this summer too, USA would be great...if I have luck I will be there for 3 months this summer. (but in an backcountry area where Paul will not appear...hm :-( ) |

 | Paul is well-known for his long sound-check´s...;-)
Jerry Douglas said that it was a lot of fun to tour with Paul, the only thing he would wish for was that he got more time for a sound-check with his own band. After Paul was finished there was not much time left for him...
Paul likes to try out new changes on his songs during the sound-check and he wants the sound to be as perfect as possible at the venue´s he plays at.
Your possible stay for 3 months in the USA sound great Bodo, when it´s not too far from some airport you could make a short trip if Paul would decide to make a tour. I will be in New England this autumn for a few weeks to make a car travel but I doubt that I can combine it with another concert of Paul this time around. |

 | I liked the way they practiced Late In The Evening on MTV Unplugged :) You can hear different instruments are played separately! Great!!! :) |
