Has anybody noticed the videos on http://www.youtube.com about 2 weeks ago?
Search fot "Paul Simon BBC TV"
Especially a rare solo version of My Little Town.

A little quiz: Who recognizes the musician who changed his hair-do and facial hair completely a few years later? ;-) Paul introduces him after I Do It For Your Love.

Yes, I do.
It must have been around the Still Crazy era maybe 1976.
However he still plays with the Jessy Dixon singers and Jean Toots Thielemans on harmonica and guitar.
Good performances and arrangements.

Indeed, they are glorious. The first time I have seen full clips since it was originally broadcast.Did not have a VCR in 75.

Its vintage PS. Produced after the official tour itinerary was over, and filmed ( I believe), at a waterside converted warehouse in Bristol.
A suitably stark, and sparse setting for the mood and music of the Still Crazy album.

Paul looks every inch the anti-star, with few concessions to his superstar status. Allowing his songs to declare themselves, and the assembled musicians free reign to enhace them.( Its not just Tony Levin who has changed his appearance , but is more or less the same)

Yes,the undoubted highlight is the solo My Little Town, sung against a backdrop ofimages of the urban sprawl. My favourite all-time PS moment.

Anyone who has the complete tape is fortunate.

Great to see again. Wonderful.

Just seen the My Little Town clip - what a great version. I think the 50 Ways one was used on that Jools Holland appearance recently as well.

The urban scene in the My Little Town clip is funny as it was obviously filmed in the UK. The ´Town´ in the song was based on a town called Gloucester, which is not far from Bristol - but I think Paul was actually refering to its namesake in Massachusetts rather than one in the West of England!

Yes Matthew, it was an inspired piece of artistic licence by the BBC!
