 | I have to be brief as I am posting from my hotel room in Glasgow from my mobile but it was a great night except for the fact that most of the crowd looked like they didn´t want to be there. The setlist was the same but he played Homeward Bound as the final song after The Boxer. Can´t wait for Manchester tomorrow now :-) |

 | I was there and not the best gig I´ve ever been to, but still nice to say I´ve seen him live.
Neither the band nor the sound guys seemed to have it together for the first half hour or so, but once they got going it was great. The SECC isn´t the best of venues for atmosphere and the acoustics aren´t brilliant as it was mainly designed for conferences and exhibitions - not big name gigs such as this
Main criticism would be lack of big screen. He´s only a little guy and for those of us sat in the tiered seating, it could have been anybody up there on stage from a visual point of view. Vocally, it was obviously Paul Simon!
Very talented backing band. Smaller than I expected, but several members (especially the kilted guy) with multi-talents.
Bridge Over Troubled Water is universally considered as an all-time classic. If it ain´t broke, don´t fix it and they broke it tonight - IMO.
Homeward Bound as a finisher was awesome and sounded just as it always did. Would have liked Sound Of Silence included, but you can´t win them all! |

 | What a surprising review - from what I have heard (radio broadcast) this was the best Bridge version I ever heard - and what a great combination : Wartime Prayers - Bridge , both accoustic, but the Bridge becomes so powerful with the band. |

 | I´m a little surprised as well at that review. Bridge has never been one of my favorites but the arrangement last night was the best one I´ve heard so far. Wartime Prayers was superb...again just Paul with a guitar....and Homeward Bound to finish off...brilliant. Our centre front row seats wern´t centre front row and we had to complain. Got moved to about 10 rows back dead centre. That was the only dissapointment of the night. Audience was a little bit reluctant to get into the swingof thigs at first but by the end eveyone was on their feet (at least surrounding me). Can´t wait for tonight. |

 | Why did you have to move back for about 10 rows? |

 | You have a busy week Julie :-) I am glad to hear he has add another song - Homeward Bound, just for the UK. Hope he isn´t already feeling homesick, before the first show was over :-) |

 | I hope he didn´t only add Homeward Bound last night because he was ´homeward´ to the North of England tonight! (if you see what I mean). I hope he does it tonight as well - see you all there. Can´t wait, only a few hours to go. |

 | Got back today from our little vacation in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I was able to be at the soundcheck friday afternoon and Paul signed my Surprise booklet and I talked for several minutes with him. From my seat, second row midfront the concert was great, the sound was good and all the people around me were enthusiastic and had a great time, as Paul and the band did. Paul was really touched as he thanked the crowd at the end of the concert. After the concert I asked for a setlist, at first I didn´t get one until the stage manager came up , he said; oh, you are the dancing girl from the second row, sure you can have one, I got the setlist from Vincent Nguini. |

 | I was there around 15.30 pm, one door of the hall was open and I just walked in and sat at the back. There were some guys who tuned the instruments. After waiting for about half an hour the band and Paul came in and began to play. I stood up and walked to the front, Nobody stopped me and I sat just after the first block. These are the songs they played; Graceland, Gumboots, Boy in the bubble, Outrageous, Train In The Distance, How can you live in the NE, Loves Me Like A Rock and they rehearsed a part of Mrs. Robinson which they wanted to change a bit. Than I walked up to the stage and asked Paul for an autograph. He asked my name and signed my Surprise booklet.
Bonnie, I asked him if he had recieved the scrapbook with birthday wishes, he said he didn´t see it, but asked what it was, I explained to him that the birthday wishes were from fans over the world and that it should have been given to him at a show in Amerika, he asked which one but I couldn´t tell him which one because I didn´t remember at that time which one it was, but that it was around his birthday and told him it was given by someone who worked backstage. He said he got more presents and that he would look into it, and that he appreciated the gift. So there is still a chance that he will see our birthday wishes, he was very kind to me. |

 | Ans,
I´m thrilled you got the opportunity to talk with PS and that you asked him about it, though I´m a little saddened to know it wasn´t something he opened immediately and spent hours thinking about. :;
I think it´s great that he now has a personal face and contact to connect to the present and this may have piqued his curiousity to "research" the receipt of it. I think he´s a man who does what he says. So, when he says he´ll look into it, I believe he will.
Your note gave me incentive to "contact my contact" and find out to whom the package was actually given, not that it really matters now as (1) nothing can be done about it and (2) the person doing me this favor did not do so by obligation, so I must be grateful for whatever was done. Makes me wonder, personally, if someone in his management simply filters his communication and keeps lots of information and correspondence from him. I say this based on a few things, notably (1) the fact that he said he didn´t know about the Montreal tribute until after it had occured and (2) other correspondence people, including myself, have sent him to which there was never a response... including a form letter note of thanks. That just seems totally out of his character, in my opinion.
Nonetheless, I think you gave him incentive to check into it Ans. And you gave me incentive to request details from my contact.
FYI: If anyone else happens to slip into any of the Europe concerts through an open door and gets to talk with PS and wants to mention they were part of a birthday gift to him, the "specifics" are that he should have received it October 4 in Los Angeles! |
