 | At JPC, Germany you can hear all songs now. Take the one for 14,99 Euro, not the Australien import for 23,99. |

 | Well 30 seconds, not always from the beginning.
The whole release of this album reminds me on a striptease show somehow, but I never saw one. (As long as their are beautiful people and Simon-Fans on the street and within the database...) |

 | Klausi, now you got the songs with the more softer an appealing melody I think.
I like ´Sure don´t feel like Love´ Beautiful and Another Galaxy |

 | Of course it is way too early to judge the whole album yet, but these drums seriously start to get on my nerves...I don´t know what it is, but for some reason I don´t like that modern sound. Anyone else feels like that? |

 | My first impression is, that if Steve Gadd plays drums on all tracks, and I think so, he is the most important guest here, not Brian Eno.
On all tracks there are delicate drums, which in this intensity no other Simon-album has. "When Numbers Get Serious" somehow would fit here too. |

 | Miriam, we wrote at the same time.
But I think, with so many tempo-changes we will Love those drums. |

 | I don´t know what you exactly mean Miriam, for me the drums sound fine.
Maybe it sounds strange for you because there haven´t been any real drums on all of the last albums the last 15 years (YTO, Capeman, ROTS)...the percussion always was the main instrument. Now these are real rock music drums. But they are not nerving I find, the guitar is always the main instrument

 | In the sixties, drums were the trademark of the new (Beat-)music.
Every boy wanted drums as gift, the parents had great fear. Drums and (electric-)guitars were thought to be easy instruments, on which you can play well within a short time. Well, you can play, but not so well.
Drums ruined many songs then, as The Sound Of Silence.
Ringo Starr was a good enough drummer for the Beatles, which was a shame.
Paul Simon did not use drums as oftenly as others. He was proud having a mid-size fast Hit without any drums (Me and Julio).
Mother And Child Reunion and Kodachrome are examples for Hit-songs, which would have failed without drums. And of course Fifty ways, the ultimate drum-song of all time.
I hope with good stereo-equipment we will hear a new "Melody-quality" of drums on Surprise. |

 | Hm you´re probably right Bodo, but still these drums sound very unusual for a Paul Simon album. Well we´ll see...When I think about it, I´ve never really liked a Paul Simon record from the beginning on ;-) |
