 | Sunday night i went to a Tsunami Relief Benefit Show and Aberham Laborial was playing. After the show (which was one of the most incredible musical experiences of my life) i talked to Aberham and mention that i really liked his work on You´re The One (he played bass on a few tracks on the album). he thanked me and then mentioned that just 3 days before he was in the studio with Paul and that they had finished 2 songs for the new album!
i asked him what it sounded like and what direction he was taking it. he said that it is like nothing Paul has done before and that he is ´goin for the throat with this one´.
i was pretty damn excited...still am. i wish that i had something more specific to say, but i thought that you all might like to hear just the little bit that i did. i can´t wait for the next album. |

 | What does he mean with "going for the throat"? More emphasis on vocals? Or is it just a saying? |

 | Isn´t it interesting that live he is most of the time touring with Bakithi, while on the studio albums Abraham Laboriel plays with him?
I wonder why? Only because of time conflicts? |

Maybe only Bakhiti can do the solo in Call Me Al! ;) |

 | Hm...well it sounds like a joke but it could be true ;-) I mean, in 1991 the bass solo sounded completley different (fast - I don´t like it that much)
Also Paul said Steve Gadd is the only one who can play 50 ways right... |

 | Maybe it´s just because Bakiti is a better live musician and Laboriel a better studio one :-) |

 | Yoooo, Jefferson, you make my day!!! a real clue about a new album...and this album doesn´t seem to be a S&G´s album (because singing with the tall curly haired man, it is not very new for Paul :-))...oufff!!! i´m relieved...
But i´m like Miriam, i don´t understand the meaning of the sentence about the throat...i hope Paul will not try to make Hip Hop... |

 | By the early seventies Paul Simon was one of the richest - maybe the richest, because Lennon/Mccartney were not the owners of their songs - man in Popmusic. His first three tours, though sold out, brought him losses, because he insisted on not too big venues and the best musicians he knew.
He likes:
playing with good musicians
playing with new musicians
In the studio he can test new musicians and sort them out, as on YTO.
On tour he has to consider the reliability. |
