Rythm of the Saints is my favourite album, I Love the drums and percussion on it. The lyrics are very good, most of my favourite songs are on this album.
Like The Coast, Born At The Right Time, Can´t Run But, the Cool cool river, Further To Fly, in fact, they are all good. I also like the guitarplaying of Vincent Nguini on this album. It was a hard album to record with all the percussion on it. You don´t have to be a fan of Graceland to like this album. I can strongly recommend it to you.

This is my favorite album. All the songs on it are fantastic, the percussion is great, and it has a swell feel to it. My favorite songs are also on this album. I am particularly fond of The Cool, Cool River, Further To Fly, The Obvious Child, and the title song Rhythm Of The Saints. I was most impressed with Paul´s lyrics on this album. It´s pure poetry. The lines are clever, and full of sage like wisdom. I find that the album is very different from any of his others, so much so that even my friends who aren´t Paul Simon fans like the album. It´s deffinately worth getting.

One of my favorites as well. I am still listening to it on a regular basis and it was released almost 14 years ago. Do I need to say more ?

I like this album. It is very soothing and it´s great lyrically. It´s nice to listen to while you relax, although I don´t know if I could call it one of my top favorites because there aren´t many just absolutely stand-out tracks on it. I really like The Obvious Child and The Coast, and all the other ones I like too.

The climax at the end of cool cool river is as good as it gets and I never get sick of Obvious Child and Born At The Right Time. I agree that this album has Paul´s best percussion

when it came out first, i didn´t like it that much was expecting another Graceland but it is much softer. that solves your worry about it being another graceland. Now that I´m played out on Graceland I Love this album. For years I had only the tape, but I got the CD (the box set one) a few months ago, and I find the music amazing. ATM its my favourite PS album (after HAB of course!!)

Yeah, The Cool, Cool River is awesome. I got the opportunity to hear it live once when I went to see paul in Kansas City. It is fantastic on the album, but is even better live. The Concert In The Park version is a great example of how it sounds live.

These are all my favourite songs

The Coast, The cool cool River, Born At The Right Time, She Moves On, Spirit Voices, Proof...wonderful.
I have to admit that the least song I´m listening to is The Obvious Child. IMO it doesn´t fit good to the other songs (even if it´s maybe better), because it´s more like a hit single.
When people start to listening to this album with the first song, The obvious child, they expect often more from the other following songs. Thats my own opinion and experience... but I think it is true. Thelma would fit better to the other songs on this album than The obvious child I think.

Don´t understand me wrong, it´s not because I don´t like the song (it´s one of his best)...but when listening to the full album (in any random order) Obvious child is always outstanding in a good or bad way ;-)

A song that I really like live is "Can´t Run But". On the album, the song is good (remember J.J. Cale´s guitar ?) but during the Paul/Bob tour, the live rendition of it was so great ! All the guitars intertwined and the percussion effects here and there...wow, good beat and atmosphere !

I do prefer The Cool, Cool River live than the studio version. The arrangements for the 1999 tour, again, were great. I especially like the "I believe in the future" parts with Simon on electric guitar with nice percussions in the background. Great, great and great.

You know what ? Last year, I put Rhythm Of The Saints on my discman and listen to it quietly while reading a book. I suddenly realized at what point every song on this CD was better than any other songs on YTO. And I think YTO is a solid set of songs !!!

The presence of Vincent Nguini´s guitar is so great on ROTS. It shines almost everywhere. But on some tracks on YTO, I just found it annoying a little (for instance...on Old).

I am scary a little for the next discussion...Capeman...not a big fan, no.

Upon closer listening my opinion on this album has changed slightly.

It´s simply amazing. The lyrics are absolutely gorgeous. I am obsessed with "Thelma" right now (one of the extended tracks - it´s an outtake, but it shouldn´t have been; it´s poetry!). Wow, this is really a great album. Yeah.
