 | I can´t hear any ABBA songs... when I was about 13 we bought a ABBA greatest Hits and my parents and also me played it all the time for I guess 1/2 a year.
Now I can´t listen to 1 song...
I´m sure Paul will also come again solo to Europe, just after the release of the new album.
To see S&G is more a thing I think I have to do, because later I maybe hate myself if I haven´t seen them... it´s just..how can I explain that - no one should later ask me:"What, you are a Paul Simon fan and haven´t seen him as S&G for their last time together?"
Anyway, I would go to a PS concert on this evening if there´s also one :-)

 | I think he even hasn´t done anything in the last months...he just said it slowed down at this interview (to prevent saying he´s in a writersblock)
It could be that the S&G shows bring him back to his roots, and so the new album will much more in the 60´s style than he (and we) would expect it...
I hope thats good :-)(At the time we have a 80´s comeback, not a 60´s comeback ;-) ) |

 | ...about this possible tour or concert by S&G. As most of you here, I am mainly a PS fan. I Love the S&G songs, but I think that PS solo stuff is much more various and interesting (although, in terms of melodies and single songs, the S&G period was absolutely extraordinary).
I think it can be enjoyable to listen to Paul and Art sing again together. It´s ok if it happens for a night. But I also think it is not healty for Paul´s work. The possible delay of his new album is the first negative point. Also, it is not likely that he will tour again immediately following the album exit. Finally, I think that previous tours together (1983 and 1994) were not good for the following albums: both Hearts And Bones and Songs From The Capeman were huge flops and there are reasons for this (in spite of the fact that they contain very good songs); one of them is, IMO, touring with Art.
I don´t think they can record again togehter. They are artistically very distant now. Could you imagine Art on an album like You´re The One or Rhythm Of The Saints? I can hardly do it. In spite of this, I expect some kind of recording. The recent "ultimate" and "definitive" collections and live leave enough space for more. For example, I am pretty sure there must be a studio demo of "Cuba sì, Nixon no", somewhere, and I really can´t understand why it was not included in the remaster of "Bridge...". As I can´t understand why there is a song from the recently published live of S&G which is not on the album BUT on the Old Friends collection (I think it is "A Church Is Burning").
About money making with the tour, I think that this is surely a possible reason. I wonder if they really need that: I think that the royalties from "Bridge..." should be more than enough for 5 lifetimes, but maybe I am wrong. At this point I wonder if Paul is confident in his new songs or not.

 | Maybe you think too much ;-))
Come on, it´s just a one-off thing. I´m pretty sure they won´t record together again, too. |

 | I started to think too much when I was 12... I fear I can´t help it. But I am pretty sure that the only possible recording might be a live, yes :-) |

 | Reagarding to this interview from January they will release another S&G live album soon.
And I hope not from 2003... they destroy their mythos and aura then cause they sound really Old now and not harmonized. |

 | If they do reunite I guess there will be a CD, DVD and video released. Too much of a money making opportunity to miss. |

 | at the moment.
If tickets cost 350$ or more it´s not fair....
But I think if they come to Europe they will have moderate prices...100 Euros is the maximum price here for normal tickets |

 | I think if I´ll get a ticket I could fly with Ryan Air very cheap to England...
Or maybe you could help me in buying a ticket then? |

 | I´m just coming back from hollidays and i receive 2 bad news: the confirmation of the S&G tour and the delay of Paul´s new album: c´est vraiment trop dur! (it´s really too hard).
I totaly agree with Bodo and Nath; once again: "PAUL, PLEASE, DON´T DO THAT!!!"
Marie-Noelle. |
