Can´t wait for the upcoming details! I´m keeping my fingers crossed that S&G will play a city close enough for me & my husband to attend. To see Paul live in concert has been our life-long dream!

every city you choose would be closer to your home than to mine :-)

So...a vacation this fall in the USA for me...okeeee. (hope they play in California, I want to go to the beach also) ;)

But I believe (hope) they will make the right thing. A show like the 1993 ones would be good, because Paul also played his solo stuff. (The 1983 shows are not so good IMO)
I´m not so happy because I thought Paul will release his new album in fall...but can he release a album and then go on tour as S&G ?
Is he still working on the new album? (I guess a tour together with Art needs a lot of rehearsals first...but maybe he combines that with a solo tour after these concerts where he playes the new album...)

Will you fly to NY for a show?

At first I´m really a Paul Simon fan, Love ROOTS, Graceland, YTO, H&B and his early hit´s and I want to hear these songs when I go to see Paul.

And at least I hate all these people now yelling statements like "Yes now Paul comes back", "That was the greatest time of his career", "He should go back to his folk roots, his best time", or "Simon was only good as S&G"

For me Paul Simon is much better than S&G.
I rarely listen to S&G
(I wouldn´t be a fan of them if they would play the same songs on and on together since the 60´s, like for example the Rolling Stones)

I think exactly the same : I became a fan with S&G when I was 13 but I am definitely now a PS fan. He did wonderful songs with Artie, ok, but he can do the same (and much better when he sings alone !)when he´s not with him : he´s free in my opinion to write what he wants to write and sings how he wants to sing. Sorry to say that but I don´t see what Art brings except sometimes his beautiful voice but that´s not enough and I´m not so sure he still has it now.

Now, I hope so much Paul will do his solo album all the same (but you are right thinking it would be so strange to tour with Art and have a solo album at the same time !).

About a trip to NY : I can´t do it next fall as I have other priorities (very expensive ones as I have a new house built and will move next fall :-) ). If I should go to one of the concerts they will make (if they really do), that would be just by curiosity but I will always feel sad and disappointed and I still can´t undersdand why Paul needs to sing with Art again...

I have the same feelings...
So there could be only 2 reasons why they do that.
* They do it for their Old fans as a gift.
* For the money

And I think they will get a lot of money,

Miriam said that she was reading somewhere that Paul´s solo album will be delayed...
6-12 months longer maybe!

I´ll decide later if I fly to NY. But then I´ll be there for 10 days or longer, have a vacation and visit some places around (I already was in NY), I´ll not fly only for the concert.

I hope at least people stop saying they should make another album again. Paul can find better voices to fit to his one now, because Arties is IMO not very fresh...

New album delated 6 or 12 months longer ?????? That´s very bad news !

And I really do hope they don´t do this tour for the money but let´s imagine it´s a great success : will they make a new album together again and will it be like Hearts And Bones when Paul didn´t bare Art´s voice on his record anymore and earse everything ? Let´s be serious : after such a long break, they can´t start again like it was 20 years ago. They now have too different approaches of the music in my opinion to be able to start a new career as Simon and Garfunkel again.

Now, if it´s just a concert to please the fans : why now and why just when the solo album should be released ?

Lots of people have said they would like to see them perform together again........but record a new album together. ....has anyone actually said that ? Paul´s recent work is too far removed from the Old S/G stuff for it to happen.

Maybe Paul has another writersblok? At the radiointervieuw on WFUV he said the proces slowed down and he is re-examen his writing.
Maybe he wants too put it all a side for a while and just relax a bit with artie.

I hope he will do just a few shows and then starts too work on his new album again.

You see, just after the confirmation that S&G are ´talking´ about some concerts there have been several people in the newsgroup(Micky, Plap, ASSMUSED) who cried for ´new material´.

And what will happen after the concerts? 100.000 Fans and the press will cry for new material...and I hope Paul is intelligent enough to say, no thanks I´m working on my solo album.
I guess there are a lot of S&G outside there which buy the solo albums of both artists sometimes because they can´t get any new material today from S&G.
If Paul releases a new solo album just after the S&G reunion (and his album will be delayed now again...) then I think a lot of these S&G fans will boycott it, they want it again as a S&G album....
I just hope that doesn´t happen.

For me Paul Simon is much more better than S&G, and I can´t hear these comments "S&G is so great, they are always better than solo...", cause it´s simply not true.
It´s the same thing as to compare Wet Wet and George Michael (solo 10 times bette) or The Police and Sting (also solo much better)

These people also don´t make reunions every decade...I guess they know why, because the Old mythos is always bigger than their fame today.
Reunions are a thing for musicians which flop as a solo act, and I think a lot of people see Paul as a flop then...that makes me fell bad.

However, I think I´ll go to such a concert. :-) To see Paul, and just because I also went to a Rolling Stones concert to see them.

The people who say that S&G are better than Paul solo Love only the sweet songs, they don´t grew along with the much better and various stuff Paul made like Graceland and the rythm and saints. I hear these comments also in my neighbourhood and they come mostly from people who just like the more simple music like ABBA or Kylie Minogue or so. So in my opinion you can better think, They don´t know any better!

But I would love too see Paul in concert again, but he would have too come to Europe because going too NY is just a little too expensive for me.
