 | Hi
What songs have "Kathy" in them besides "America" and "Kathy's Song"?
Thank you.

 | I would say:
Homeward Bound: the silent lover waiting for him.
The late Great Johnny Ace: the girl from the summer before. |

 | A Simple Desultory Philippic "when in London do as I do, find yourself a friendly haiku", often seen as an oblique reference. |

 | I don't think 50 ways is about Peggy:
It seems the most obvious but i remember an interview where Paul was asked if the song was about her. He said no, it was about another lady. The journalist didn't ask more but noted that Paul was blushing when he answered to this question and that it was quite charming for a 60 and something year old man. |

 | The interregnum period between divorce from Peggy Harper, and when the song "Still Crazy" was actually written, leaves a list of 4 possible suspects who the "Old Lover" actually was.
Namely, Bette Midler, Shelley Duval, Gilda Radner, Edie Baskin.
Of course Paul Simon will tell you it was none of the above, but a work entirely of the imagination. |

 | It seems that Gilda Radner had a big crush on Paul (according to Carrie) but never succeeded to catch him.
Shelley Duvall and Paul dated 2 years, 1975-1977, so it can't be her.

 | That leaves Bette Midler and Edie Baskin. My hunch is the latter, who took the album cover photo. |
