I think he might be a bit upset about the Sting/Simon duo - especially since they did such great covers of S&G songs particularly BOTW!

The no 1 album in the UK would not have helped either !Rolling Stone now reporting the conversation.

For a 73 year old man to behave like this is definitely not normal.

If you read the interview carefully, you'll see that several of the quotes from Art was things he said to Paul in 1971! And this makes the deadlines in 2015...

Anyway, I think it is stupid of Art to bring up this (again) after all these years. The press loves to take this out of context to get a headline, and he should know that by now.
Hopefully Paul does not read it.

Michiel. I have not seen any negative comments made by Paul about Art for many years . At least since before the 2003 tour. In fact the opposite. He has said some very nice things about him. One example from 22 Dec 2012 .
A message from Paul:
Just saw "This Is 40". Funny. But joke about Art Garfunkel was not. He was the great singer of S&G and a gifted record producer. Nothing laughable about his talent.

"words like Jerk,Idiot and Monster that have been attributed to Art in the latest interview are unbelievable. If he has been misquoted now is the time to say so. Remarks Art made about his father I also find very disturbing. Think he will live to regret this interview,

Hopefully Paul will read it as things that was said 44 years ago. But how stupid can Artie really get? How old is he? 12?

hi Brenda, it is always the question what Art really has said, and what he did not say. I myself witnessed Paul saying that he had never enjoyed touring together so much, as with Sting. This was clearly, although he did not literally say so, referring to AG. When you looked at his face, it was clearly he meant "touring with Sting is much more fun than with AG". And maybe thus is a truth, but by saying it on April 18 Paul also choose to tease AG a bit....

Paul has toured with quite a few people. He is quite entitled to say he never enjoyed touring as much as with Sting. I heard him say it on the Amsterdam recording. Very much doubt he did it to annoy AG. Especially as Art never goes on the internet or knew any details about the Paul/Sting tour. Or so he said in the BBC radio interview last week. Teasing or not it is nothing like the vitriolic spewed by Art. At least Paul retains his dignity and ignores the nonsense. If Art has not said what was attributed to him why has he not said so. This interview has gone all over the world. An utter embarasement for him.

Hakam. No Art was not at the concert and in a radio interview last week seemed to know absolutely no details about the Paul and Sting tour. Had to ask the interviewer for information . He did say he had never seen any of the shows.

I knew, or surmised, that he wasn't at that concert ;)
Paul said something similar at the concert in Stockholm, that he "was having the time of his life". I don't think that it was this comment that caused Art to comment, probably more the fact that Paul was touring with somebody other than Art.

So Paul is a saint and Art is the devil? :-)
Anyhow, too much words made dirty on this.
I hope they both will be positive in the future on each other, and that at some point a S&G farewell concert will take place. S&G is an act deserve a final farewell concert...

When I reread the interview, and I mean the WHOLE interview and not just small parts of it, I come to the conclusion that Art's words were not that bad. He uses the words idiot and jerk just to emphasize his amazement on why Paul walked away in 1970 while they were on top. So basically with an eye wink, it is typically how the world's headlines work these days.... You (websites, newspapers, etc) just take out a few words of the whole interview and the meaning that is given to thise words is completely different from the meaning of the words when they were spoken... But Art could have known this, so he better choses his words next time somethat more carefully :-)

Michiel said "So Paul is a saint and Art is the devil?"

It's funny how AG's fans or, in this case, his defenders always tell that...
I,as an old Paul's fan, can say that i never said or thought he was a saint; and as one of the oldest posters of this forum, i can tell that we always were and still are the first to criticize him.
And no, i never said or thought that AG was the devil. He just annoys me with his nostalgia, his victimization (as if he has not his responsabilities in the S&G split. Oh my God, we talk about a thing which took place 45 years ago!!!) and his bad faith.
But now, he succeeds in surprising me: i have never thought that he could be so mean, so jealous, so vindicative and so paranoide.
Well done sir, you manage to be talked about (more than 1200 comments on the Telegraph article and our own comments here); if it is your only way to have an existence...
