I love it. Sounds great and the lyrics are really really good. I'm excited to hear what the final product will sound like.

Was this advertised anyplace? Sure would have gone there but
never saw tickets. I thought it was strange no one was
mentioning it. Spent an hour and ahalf trying to get the video
or audio from it. I heard some other people complaining that
they couldn't get it either. I don't know anything about Twittering So that was no good, tried to send in questions but
I don't think they got there. Probably the people in the audience were the ones who got answered. That was exhausting and all for nothing.

I didn't see any real advertising for it, but the place was nearly sold out so word got around. They only answered three questions from twitter, and one of the twitter questions was tweeted from a girl in the audience who was next to ask the question herself ironically. But Paul Muldoon beat her to it. For a Q&A session, I felt that Paul Simon dodged some of the questions and bounced them to Paul Muldoon. A lot of the topics were recycled from other recent discussions but there were some stuff, like the new song, and some background information about older songs, which made it all worth while.

He also got a little pissed off when I asked him my question, but he did answer it.

What did you ask him Danny? Hopefully not, whether he writes the music or the lyrics first...

Looking back I shouldnt have asked it, but my original question was taken before me. I didnt ask it like this, but I Started telling him how he has been a hero of mine for my entire life, then I told him I remember he said before playing Kathy's Song at a concert that he will never play some songs because it embarrasses him too much, so I asked him which song embarrasses him the most. He started saying that he doesnt feel that way about Kathy's song anymore, then told us that he still speaks to Kathy and she recently became a grandmother, then he looked at me and told me "why should I tell you which song?" I told him "I am sorry, I was just curious of what you consider a bad song." He then gave me a dirty look and without hesitation said "The Dangling Conversation". I responded with "Thats one of my favorites" and he looks at me again and says "Wow" with a slightly sarcastic tone. Thanked me and I walked off. That was it.

Looking back I probably shouldnt have asked the question but I am glad I did in a way. It was a question I always wanted to know. I would have thought a song like "Punky's Delima" or "Cars are Cars" would have been it. Not "The Dangling Conversation" I might have pissed off my idol, but I had a conversation with him and I got a wonderful glimps into his mind and it is something, reguardless of his mood. It's somethingI will never forget.

Thanks for the report Danny. Have heard Paul say before he was embarrassed by "The Dangling Conversation" Said it was pretentious. Would you please upload Paul discussing "Riverbank"? Would love to listen to it.

Must remember the next time I'm talking to Paul not to say ' did you know you were my hero?' Not very pleasant was he? Still .. Looking forward to listening to the song

Paul has said before, since the early portfolio songbook, that there was a set of young songs which he was embarassed to have written...generally I've understood those betwen the first set of songs that were on the PS Songbook and SoS, and Bookends. I've always assumed that Dangling Conversation was one of those , and it has not been performed since 1968. I guess also For Emily, although as it is an Artie solo Paul has had to put up with performing it.

That is an interesting interaction at the Q & A - but frankly, if he invites questions, does he need to be such a git in giving the answers ? Did the guy who said he liked Dangling Conversation feel better for the exchange??

I honestly didn't think it was a horrible question at the time, and I genuinely love "The Dangling Conversation" I don't know if he took that as an insult or not, or if he was just joking and I took it as sarcasm and annoyance, but I was just telling him I liked that song a lot and was just curious as to what he thought.

Also I don't know how to direct link it here, but I uploaded the little intro he gave to the song on the excessive fans page.
