| Have had this UK bug for past few days and not feeling great and I am totally bored so I thought I would write a short story about my friends Steve and Hazel who had a New Years Eve Party and part of the entertainment was a Mastermind Quiz and my specialist subject was the music of Simon and Garfunkel until the year 1970. Just for the record I am writing this part as a joke so I am not being to serious. To be fair the other subjects had well chosen questions and answers but there was bad questions on the M25 which started more laughter.
Anyhow…the first question was What year did Tom & Gerry form? Now that’s a hard question as you could argue 1955 or 1956. I answered 1956 and was told a big WRONG its 1957. As we all know the hit was in 1957 but that was not the question.
Worse was to come….Including The Graduate how many Albums did S & G release? Including The Graduate seems wrong but I guess its stated so I said 6…..Answer was….Of course the Subject is S & G until 1970…They would not have it…its 8….
Then we came to the question which Award did S & G receive at the Grammys in 1969. That really foxed me as I thought they won 3 Awards. My answer was Record of the Year. I was told a big WRONG again…correct answer they said was Best Score for a motion picture. I thought that was won by the writer and composer. Of course Record of the Year was won by Simon & Garfunkel.
This was another brilliant question. What District in New York were S & G brought up in? My answer was Kew Gardens Hills, Forest Hill…Wrong as the answer was Queens….Queens is not a district of NY but a Borough.
There was another question which was about a B Side. I gave the B side on the USA release but the answer for this quiz was given as the UK release.
