  | Even that is not quite right. On 17th January UN forces started bombing Baghdad and other Iraqi cities but there was no ground invasion at this stage.
Whilst some coalition forces did enter Iraq in February 1991 as part of the liberation of Kuwait, there was no occupation of Iraq during the first Gulf War and most troops were based in Saudi Arabia. |
