I´m a day lAte "just"! But happy 70 th to bob Dylan our national radio have been having a "bob" fest all evening. Hoping they´ll do the same for our Paul!

By the way in The Boxer Paul has a line " I´m younger than I once was but older than I might have been". And in a recent song on Surprise there is a similar sentiment. One line that bob is known is " I used to be so much older then". Who copied who? Is there any connection?

HI Scaaty,I do believe Bob´s song preceded Paul´s by a few years. I think Paul was definitely referencing the Dylan song. PRobably another reason why some believe The Boxer to be about Dylan, but let´s not get into that one again.

hmm, I kind of think the line from The Boxer is
now the years are rolling by me
they are rocking evenly
I am older than I once was
And younger than I´ll be
That´s not unusuall.

So maybe its some kind of response to Dylan´s "I was so much older then, I´m younger then that now." if that is Dylan´s line, I´ve only ever heard a live version so I don´t know about the original recording. Also, I don´t know how to spell the word unusuall.

Yourright but the words are similar . The other line related to this wasactually in YTO "I was born before my father and mychildren before me"

Thank goodness for the lyrics book the Old brain cells are older than they once were and will feel younger again when this head cold disappears!

Believe the Dylan song is "My Back Pages" (around 1964)

Sorry Ian -- I was around when both songs were written, and think it is very unlikely that The Boxer was about Bob Dylan. They were rivalrous as I recall. I think it was about AG -- he even said so in answer to a fan post in an email forum -- I forget where -- and he would be unlikely to be wrong about this.

Hi Carol,I don´t believe the song is about Bob myself. Just putting it out there...again:-)
Mog,I left my comment. I shan´t be returning to see if anyone comments on my comment though. It´s an empty procedure to endlessly compare things that are best taken for their individual merits.
