 | Jeffrey archer organised a charity concert in May 1991 and Paul Simon was one of the performers. Later it was discovered the funds were misappropriated. Does anyone have any other details like where was the concert? Did the performers know anything about the money etc etc

 | Scatty, The Dreamer of Music website states that while playing at Manchester´s G Mex venue Paul appeared by satellite during a benefit gig that was going at Wembley Arena in aid of Kurdish refugees. No mention of the missing money though. |

 | No probs - the "live satellite performance" was recorded on Sat 11th May 1991 and televised the following night...not like Mr Archer to mislead us...

Here´s a link - Mr Archer was in prison at the time of the article - seems the fate of many of our MP´s.... |

 | In the United States, MTV broadcast "The Simple Truth - For Kurdish Relief" on May 12, 1991 from GMX in Manchester. I believe they aired "Graceland" and "You Can Call Me Al," but I´ll have to check to make sure. |

 | Hi all,
Paul played 3 songs in this concert, according to this site:
http://www.concertarchiv.net/SimpleTruth-Audio.htm
[CD3]
07. You Can Call Me Al (PAUL SIMON - Live aus Manchester)
08. Still Crazy After All These Years (PAUL SIMON - Live aus Manchester)
09. Loves Me Like A Rock (PAUL SIMON - Live aus Manchester)
And I found one his picture from the concert.

 | This is correct. Paul used to play "You can..." two times on the tour and they showed the second time. After the enthusiastic respond of the crowd he said: "The north rises" and then a few words why the cameras where there and about the "Kurds who suffered terribly".
Unfortunately this suffering is almost forgotten because of "all the suffering that mankind must endure" afterwards.
Once the Kurds had their own country but this was eliminated at "the round table" long ago in favour of others - like Israel was founded after world war two at another round table as disadvantage for others. |
