 | Personnaly, I can´t say it makes me uncomfortable.
He believes in God, that we all know. He is not a religious person, that we know.
He´s almost 70. He does not know how much he has left, and he thinks he is running out of time.
Is it a big Surprise that it came a lot in SBOSW ? Not really to me.
Also, as I made the point in my review, take a look at the sources of inspiration for this record, and you will find that a lot has to do with the USA South-East. If anyone has hang out over there, there will be no surprise that God is a word commonly heard.
I agree that the traces left by Simon on SBOSW makes a very unorthodox Christian way. Big bang ? Evolution ? God discouraged of His creation ? Galaxies yet to be born ?!Bureaucracy in Heaven ? What is this !!!
No doubt, Paul might end up in Hell ;-( ah ah !

 | I agree Nancy. I´m not ´religious´ but I enjoy the God mythology that is in his songs. I don´t see his songs as being very Christian, if anything they sound almost deistic. Except for of course the line "God and His only Son." If there is a God, I imagine he´s alot like the one in LIESL. | | | | The777Man

 | I have to somewhat agree with Jay; I don´t think Paul is that Religious per se but that it is an interesting subject.
That said, lyrically the new album has many songs with the subject religion which makes that a bit repetative lyrically, something I have never experienced before on a Paul Simon album. Albums like Graceland, ROTS, Surprise; all of them that have much more varied topics lyrically.
Musically most songa are amaizing but a few starts great and kinda fades out eg Love And Hard Times, Questions For The Angels. Amuelet is just chords, not much of song. But the other seven songs are amaizng.
