 | Seems to me that Paul is going to have a hard job keeping the customers satisfied with whatever he has on the setlist.
I´m just glad he is performing and will gladly appreciate whatever he gives. Perhaps I wouldn´t feel the same way if it was my one and only Paul Simon concert.
From past experience for me the real treats have been the unexpected songs - Train In The Distance & Hearts & Bones from 1991, One Mans Ceiling & I Am A Rock from 2000, The reworked Mrs Robinson from 2002, Duncan & Only Living Boy from 2008, and The Coast & Spirit Voices whenever he has played it.
As for Diamonds, I would rather have Call Me Al or Boy In The Bubble (but that´s just my preference & will be grateful whatever we get).
Yes, I would prefer Still Crazy to be included (seems just a waste to have Andy Snitzer on board and not play it).
I am really looking forward to Peace Like A River & Gone At Last & Obvious Child, and hopefully Mother & Child Reunion/Vietman will get onto the setlist by Toronto/New York.
My quietly wishing list would include - Congratulations, Ten Years, Another Galaxy, Something So Right.

What a fantastic collection of songs for someone to have in their repetoire, leave out of their concert setlist and STILL send the crowd home elated. Everyone can add others too of course... Magritte, Johnny Ace, Spirit Voices, Trailways Bus, Another Galaxy etc. etc. etc.
A real testament to a fantastic writer/performer and an amazing career. |

 | I really Love Once Upon A Time I Was An Ocean. It´s the single that wasn´t a single. Maybe someday we´ll hear it... |

 | A lot of people say the same of Senorita with a Necklace of Tears. Never even heard Paul mention it! Wonder if he remembers that one? ;-)
I file it with Rene and Georgette Magritte and The Myth of Fingerprints. |

 | You know I´m almost as excited about seeing the setlist for the second show in the same city as I was the first.
The big thing was to get an idea of the bulk of the setlist, and there are plenty of things that I´m thrilled about (slightly more obscure stuff like Hearts & Bones; Peace Like A River; Here Comes The Sun; Gone At Last...and some of the biggies that appear & disappear off the list- Late In The Evening; The Obvious Child The Only Living Boy In New York) & especially that he´s doing 6 songs from the new album!!!(only 4 from "Surprise" that I recall ever hearing about).
I´m thrilled most of my faves from the new album are there, and...I think there´s a chance we could hear "Questions For The Angels", which he has done before live...and "Getting Ready For Christmas Day" even (did it on The Colbert Report)...or maybe "Amulet" (again he´s done it before)...leaving only "Love & Blessings" as the most questionable.
Tonight though we get to see what he might add, and/or take out, as we think about how expansive or flexible this tour might be. That would be a change, and an exciting one.
By the time I get to see him in Toronto for two nights there will have been 10 to 12 shows preceding them, and we´ll have a pretty good idea of where things stand. Then it´s another 10-12 shows before the two in Boston. Then it´s just hoping that he might come back for a final Autumnal North American swing. |

 | He didn´t do Only Living Boy in New York tonight. As I said on the other thread he did do Boy in the Bubble, Getting Ready for Christmas day, Still Crazy after all the years - hmmm am I leaving something out? I am a very tired lady. You just have to hear Obvious Child. It sounded as good as in Central park - absolutely amazing!!!!
This is without a doubt the best PS concert I have seen!!! |

 | This is from Nancy´s report...I don´t have the order for the second show, but so far I know that he dropped "The Only Living Boy In New York" (from "Bridge Over Troubled Water), but added "The Boy In The Bubble" (from "Graceland", "Still Crazy After All These Years" (from "Still Crazy After All These Years"), "Getting Ready For Christmas Day" (from "So Beautiful Or So What"), and finally a medley of these two songs- "Vietnam" (a cover of the great Jimmy Cliff song), and "Mother & Child Reunion" (from "Paul Simon"). |
