Eh.. now you´re confusing me. Is it not new? In any case, it is one of the items on the extra DVD in my deluxe edition (the ´normal´ deluxe edition, that costs 5 EUR more here than the basic album).

My deluxe edition extra DVD contains three items:
1. Exactly this video on the making of the album.
2. The ´Getting ready for Christmas Day´ video, which is definitely not new.
3. An audio track of a rehearsal of ´So Beautiful or So What´; to be specific: of the song SBOSW, not the album!

IMHO #1 is the most (only really) interesting item that would justify the extra price.

Now, is your point that this is in fact NOT new, or are you merely asking what this is... ???

Thanks for answer. It clarifies stuff for me. I think I will downsize my pre-order to the simple CD.

The video in item No. 1 has been online for two months, so this is really not new. I had thought the the making of was a extensive version of the RS video, but it is the same.

Goodness gracious, I got excited and did not see the dates at RS. And did not use the forum much recently. I think you should definitely downsize your order if you can. I just played the RS video and the DVD video in parallel on my two computers, and they are absolutely identical. Except for the Rolling Stone imprint in the corner. Haha.

What a scam. I already thought the contents of the DVD were a bit thin when watching it for the first time. But if all that stuff is online anyway... gosh. 5 Euros completely wasted.

mog, do you think there are any chances that the ´deluxe´ DVD will have different content at the other side of the pond?

I ordered the Deluxe in the end as, at the time I ordered, there was just a $1 difference between deluxe & regular. I thought from the start the deluxe DVD looked weak on content and not worth much more money. In the end there was a $3 difference, so I wish I´d downsized now.

I´m not a huge fan of bonus DVDs, but looking at the ones I do have I can´t help noticing how poor this one really is. What does it run for? 15 minutes at most?

I paid 1 Euro more, so it is okay for the extra song and a high quality videoclip

I wished the making of was longer, 30-45 minutes or so. What a waste of space on a dvd...

Yes Bodo, a waste in many respects. I must admit I did not question the deluxe content much before ordering. I just thought ´if it´s Paul, I want deluxe´. Seems I paid what we call in German ´Lehrgeld´. I think in English this roughly translates to ´learning something the hard way´. (Though this is not really a hardship, I must say.)

By the way, a friend of mine ordered the regular CD from Amazon.de, but was sent the deluxe instead (at the price of the regular one). As said, 5 Euros price difference. It´s a little strange, all this.

I am still puzzled by Hear Music who make us buy this dvd with previously released material, that a lot of people can easily download with Real Player anyway in high quality.

I wonder if they could have made an enhanced CD rather than burning a DVD for 20 min.

Anyhow, I liked the promotion they made on this record.

This "Deluxe Editon" is a bad joke. I was lucky to pay only CHF 16.50 for it, but this was a mistake by the selling company. The very next day the "DE" was CHF 33.90 which is completely crazy. So I think it is even for the stores difficult what all the diffrences are or should be. Have a look here, you can order 4 diffrent versions, how terribley strange...:

just serach for Paul Simon. I´m a bit upset what the music industry is doing with "their" customers.

Not everyone wants to deal with looking for downloads. A dollar more is not a big deal - worth it to me! It seems to be the nature of the beast to grumble and moan here. For God´s sake let´s just enjoy this wonderful album and order whatever the H*ll you want.

I only paid $12.99 total for the deluxe addition from Amazon, so it´s not a big deal to me. But I am sad that the Making Of is not longer. Oh well.

I agree Nancy. It is a wonderful album and the de luxe version is available on Amazon US for @12.99. Great value. Its not as if its costly buying Paul Simon albums. Plenty of time in between to save up for them! I too like hard copies of albums and DVD´S.My real player downloads are just not the same.

By the way there are some very good reviews of the album on Amazon US.Worth a read!
