Not only do I agree with you about "Rewrite" (and yeah Jay- great whistling- best on record since, um, "Me & Julio Down By The Schoolyard" ;) ) but even more so I agree with you about where this ranks with his greatest albums (add in "Bookends" & "Bridge Over Troubled Water" from the S & G catalog too) & which ones are the best songs on the album. I salute your impeccable taste :)...and hope you get to catch him live on this tour.
Finally I have to say that while The Beatles & solo Beatles are my fave U.K. artists ever...Paul Simon and Simon & Garfunkel are my fave U.S. artists ever. There are a few others in that realm, but there is something extra special about Paul.
The only elder statesman doing work anywhere near this quality this late in his career is maybe Paul McCartney. I like the run of later Dylan albums from "Time Out Of Mind" onwards, but I think they are quite overrated. Compare those to Paul´s albums of the last decade of so. "You´re The One" is a great album, but it ends up as a prologue of sorts & it´s greatness a contrast to the even greater realms that are reached by both "Surprise", and "So Beautiful Or So What". "Surprise" was the best album of the century´s first decade. I honestly can´t imagine an album that will surpass "So Beautiful Or So What"...that is unless Paul Simon makes another album this decade, and I certainly hope he does! These last couple album will end up as Autumnal masterpieces that are the gold standard against which which anything any great musician does at the end of their career is measured against. |

| I just spoke to a great DJ there named Pablo, and he informed me that all the online stuff is taken care of by someone named LeAnne, and that she´s either an afternoon DJ, or she´s in in the afternoon (can´t recall the details)...anyhow...he said that it won´t be taken care of before noon, but...that while he doesn´t know what it takes to fix it, or how long that will take, he´s pretty certain that it will be fixed today & that we´ll be hearing the last two songs, and full album by tonight. Yay!! |

I am not sure about what comes after the voice of God...this thing about pop music, politics is ugly...it does not flow very well IMHO.
I rather Love the begining of the song than the end. |

| Mog: Yay! I´m at the office too. Happily it´s a stand alone acupuncture practice with me, myself, & I. I´m actually just paying forward the gift of those mp3´s to another Forum member via email (doesn´t work when you try to do more than a couple BTW). I just treated a dear friend who was recently in a car accident, totaled the car (she´s OK, but sore), and I´m driving her back home as soon as all the music gets sent...were listening to the new album while we wait.
But it looks like I´ll be burning off my mock copy of the new album tonight too...thanks again!! :)

| Mog- If it´s possible to do MP3 tracks of the first two, just as they are from the same source, that´d be great...if I´m tech ignorant and there´s no need, just ignore me...but it does seem like doing another one of the title track, along with "Love & Blessings" might not be a bad idea, since the source for that sounded good to me, but was sort of second hand from European radio it I recall correctly. | Well, you can image, first thing I did after arriving home (after kissing my wife and kids) was listening to the new tracks. I agree with all of you... this is one of the best works from Paul Simon, though for me all are great :-)
On top of GRFCD and The Afterlife, I like Dazzling Blues and Rewrite a lot. LIESL is very powerful, but after the first listening I am not 100% inn Love with it yet. But it will happen.
I would like to go to bed tonight with all these new songs in my iPod, but don´t know how to convert them in mP3. Someone could tell me?
