I can´t say I´m against sampling, as it should be a sign of respect, much like covering another artist´s music. Paul Simon has done it, and I can´t be a hypocrite in that sense.
But matching another artists´ song with explicit and demeaning lyrics is what really irks me. I hope there´s at least some sort of copyright laws behind sampling, because it seems like a tricky business.
I really don´t have a problem with covers as long a the artist brings something new to the song. But words are precious, so they should be used thoughtfully. People seem to have forgotten the gift of language. The way Paul can describe everyday life is amazing. He can make us take a look at ordinary things and see them in a new light. That is poetry to me. I wish more people in the music business today would appreciate the world around them and appreciate life. We act like we are our own creation. Everybody everybody wants to be seen instead of seeing.
Phehttp://www! That´s..not so good. I believe people like Eminem take samples from real songs to give their own tracks something they haven´t a hope of achieving with their own limited ´gifts´. In most cases it´s melody.

"We act like we are our own creation." Kris you are spot on. I couldn´t have said any of that any better than you just did.
I think it´s great; he uses the song in a very nice way. Of course it´s a matter of taste, but I can´t understand why some of you are so negative about it... Anyway, it surely opens younger people´s eyes (ears) to Paul´s music.

I am giving away my age, but listening to crude and unimaginative language is not my idea of entertainment - ugh!
