I bought mine earlier today. I haven´t had a chance to listen to the CD yet, so I don´t know if it sounds any better than the other 47 versions of the album that I have. The package did leave me with some questions. Remember that youtube video of "The Boxer" a capella? (OK, it wasn´t really a capella but it had the guitars and some other instruments stripped out). Wasn´t that supposed to be released with the 40th Anniversary package or did I misunderstand something?

The DVD is nice; the "Songs Of America" special looks dramatically better than my 2nd generation VHS tape from 8mm film shot from video screen....... This isn´t unexpected since much of the performance footage from the special was already released on "Old Friends: Live On Stage," so we knew what we were getting. The other program on the DVD is "The Harmony Game," which I had already seen in the theatre. It´s a shame that Larry Knechtel and Fred Carter, Jr. weren´t alive to share their memories of those sessions, but hearing Hal Blaine and Joe Osborne talk about them was fascinating. Forty years after the fact, Roy Halee´s passion for this music is striking. Halee clearly loved working with S&G, loved the music and loved the entire recording process. His enthusiasm even after all this time is amazing.

Most cryptic comment- Paul: "I wasn´t always an angel"

I played the CD on the way home from work today. The sound quality is VERY nice -- sounds better than the box set but I don´t have any other versions.
