 | Iīve noticed that just over the course of a year, sites that used to offer presale codes to people are now requesting subscriptions and fees in order to gain access to early tickets. Itīs hard enough trying to compete against big companies that buy up all the good tickets only to sell them for twice as much money.
Any suggestions? Seeing as how tickets for Paul Simon are going on sale this week itīd be nice if we pooled together some leads.

 | Mike, stay in touch on this. I don´t know where you live, or what shows you´re looking to get tickets for. My email is "[email protected]".
I do have an ex-girlfriend I´m still close to who has an American Express Card. For whatever reasons, a lot of pre-sales are for AmEx cardholders only. There is almost no info anywhere right now, including Ticketmaster´s official website, about anything involving anything (TM has info on Seattle show only, 1 out of 16- pre-sale there on 3/10 & tickets range from $65 to $85 & there´s an article from a MN newspaper that has tickets ranging from $52 to $127)
We´ll certainly find out more very early this next week. My personal concern is that since I last saw him in ´06 the ticket/scalper situation has become out of control.
I think of Neil Young as someone of Paul Simon´s popularity & stature. This last year Neil was playing a tour of small halls, like is Paul is doing now (under 5,000 seats) & his show in Buffalo sold out in 3 minutes flat. In bigger cities it´s worse.
I´m doing my best to get a few tickets to a few shows, and if I come up with any extras I´ll be sure to post here & sell them at cost.
I´m REALLY trying to find someone who wants to go to Boston. There is an afternoon Red Sox game at Fenway & then Paul that night at the Wang Theater, but it´s the middle of the work week. I can schedule my acupuncture clients around it, but it´s hard to find anyone else with the same flexibility. Any takers? |

 | Thanks, I´ll shoot you an e-mail. Yeah I only came across that Seattle date so far which is pretty much impossible for me. With college and finals week in May it´s gonna be a stretch to work this scheduling out but I´ll base it off of which place I can get the best seats near a weekend. |

 | Just checked the Ticketmaster site and only tickets for the Seattle show are the only ones on sale. If you check for the tickets at the Beacon, seats in center section are sold! |

 | I don´t think that the Ticketmaster site does anything but show a map. My bet is that the person was looking at one of those ticket scalper sites. They often list tickets for sale, often even before they go on sale.
That is part of the problem with getting tickets to bigger artists playing smaller halls...Those ticket sites have automated programs/machines that go in & get as many tickets as possible. They gobble up huge chunks of what´s out there & the too busy, but rich enough to pay the price population ends up buying the best tickets. A few common true fans score a few good seats, and most fans either get shut out or get lesser seats. And if they are shut out, they can buy lesser seats, but at again, grossly inflated prices.
As I said here before...this last year Neil Young in Buffalo sold out in 3 minutes...my bet for Paul Simon in larger cities, at least (if not all cities on this small hall tour) will be exactly the same...I predict under 10 minutes for sell outs. Get on the pre-sale situation, and/or be ready to go those mornings they go on sale. Good luck & Blessings to everyone!!! Ladies & Gentleman start your engines...& were off!! |

 | A second gig is now up on Ticketmaster. The Minnesota show. There is an American Express pre-sale starting on 3/9, and tickets range from $50 to $125 ($63 to $140 with ticketmaster charges included). |

 | There are now four dates up on the Ticketmaster, and Massey Hall´s official website also has that show listed...everything else remains a mystery...some pre-sales...ticket prices varying quite a bit with Toronto as the big loser with top end tickets up at the sky high price of $185 (a good $40-$80 above other top end ticket prices)...ouch, as I´m going to Toronto. |

 | just had a flashback to ´01. I joined Massey´s ´Friends´ thinking I´d have an edge on tkts. Turned out they were not offered thru ´friends´. I think the tour managers determine that. |

 | I am trying to find out from Massey Hall if there will be pre-sale in case of this show, and if the Friendship thing is applied. Last Friday, they announced it for this Wednesday, but reposted the show without any pre-sale. I am supposed to call them back tomorrow afternoon to find out the final answer, as the clerk was unclear about the situation.
I think one of us should pay for the friendship thing, if applicable, and then buy tickets for others interested, with a small surcharge for the friendship thing. Solidarity in 2011 !
But if TO is already 50$ more than other places, we might be already scr*wed anyway. Maybe I should switch to the U.S., but avoiding U.S. custom officers might be a good reason to go to TO !! LOL !!
Anyway, we should gather and rejoice. LinkCink, please contact me to plan something. It would be fun to meet some people. |

at Paul´s "official" site he has a list of tour dates-Beacon in NYC is May 10 & 11 with sale dates listed as mar 18-now I could have sworn the date had been mar 11 a few weeks ago. There are also posted more dates, such as Atlantic City and Foxwoods at the end of May-the sale dates are Mar 11 with presale to gold card AE and other AE credit card people for Mar 9. (Just keep in mind that I read the concert list a few minutes ago and now am typing all this stuff from the memory cells) |
