 | Lol, Tom.
You have a point there. The sad thing for me is that the pre-order is not available in the Dutch Itunes store. Otherwise I would pre-order so I can enjoy the new album + bonustrack and wait for the Deluxe Edition which I also cannot find yet in a internet store in my country.

 | Can not agree.
I do not see a point in making a deluxe edition for around 20-25 USD, and then make a cheap version for 9,99 and include something MORE than the deluxe edition has.
This is fooling the customer.
I paid deluxe, I want deluxe, thats the deal today, while the music industry suffers.
Paul Simon does not need our money to produce any more albums. He deservs it, thats no problem. But he deservs not to be paid twice by his fans.
I do not pay 10 $ for 1 song, no matter how less fun you have with filling up your car with gas (we pay twice the price for that gas btw...) |

 | Paul Simon´s Facebook account says the video is 8 minutes long for the digital iTunes edition. There is NO WAY the physical deluxe edition´s "Making Of:" documentary is going to be 8 minutes long. That´s how long the Rolling Stone video is.
So my hope is that the physical CD/DVD edition actually has a full DVD, while the digital edition has an edited version of that. (And of course I want the live track on both.) |

 | many years ago, I bought Greatest HIts ETC.I had all the songs on the album except for Slip Sliding Away and Stranded In A Limousine. That is when they first started to train me to pay album price for one or two songs, so I have many years of acclimatizing to this already.
That album , I think was going to be called Blatant Greatest Hits an early sign of the terrible influence Saturday Night Live was having on Paul which culminated in the horribly unfunny Billy Paul sketch.
A great moment from Saturday Night Live was when he played Connie Hawkins in basketball. I purchased the entire first season of SNL only so I could have that video, and mostly for the moment in that video where he calls Marv Albert "Howard" (COSELL)
Once you have paid 50 bucks or so for one video clip, 10 dollars doesn´t seem so bad for one song.
Still Bodo, I would not want to pay European prices for gasoline. |

 | The funny thing about spending money is that everyone has their own priorities. And a hobby can be expensive :)
About paying gasoline, in the Netherlands it´s a disaster. At the moment we pay â?¬ 1.70 for 1 litre. â?¬ 1.00 is for the public treasury (government spending), â?¬ 0.50 for the Oil companies, â?¬ 0.20 for the petrol station. It´s Outrageous...
Scaaty, I like the things we have in common, except the Itunes store and can only hope that if Paul goes on tour he will visit both our countries.

 | Ans,
some Netherlandians I met travelling told me their languange wasn´t so much a language as a throat condition. |

 | And we´re complaining our petrol has gone up from 1.28 to 1.40!! As you say expensive is relative!
when I was a teenage I refused to buy albums that I would only know one or two songs on them - hence I never acquired any of the S&G albums only their greatest hits! |

 | Ans,
It seems to me a lot of the Dutch people I have met seem to speak a lot of languages very well, even better than most Europeans. (at least these people whom I have met while traveling.) Do they stress this in early education? |

 | Hi Tom,
the Dutch language is indeed more of a throat condition ;-)
If we should ever want to live abroad I will have to change my name, Ans Koenen is very difficult to pronounce in another language ;-)
The Netherlands are a country of trade, transit and export so if we speak other languages well we can negotiate better.
Another big advantage is that foreign programms on TV are always subtitled, even the cartoons (often english) so the young kids get familiair with another language in an early age. The english language is also a subject on primary school.
These days more and more english words are used in our language, the older generation doesn´t like that so much. The internet does a lot and globalization.

 | Here on iTunes it is out on the 11th of April. I found one musicstore online where the regular album is out on the 8th of April so no Peace Like A River on it. I will wait for iTunes and order the Deluxe from Amazon.co.uk
So far nothing about a concert in Holland. I hope there will be information about it soon, otherwise I will have to come to Cork :) is the pre-sale still on the 15th of March?

 | Well it seems the DVD in de luxe edition contains an audio track:
"So Beautiful Or So What" Live.
And on itunes "Peace Like A River" Live.
This is a true foolness and a nonesense. If you want to get the 2 new live tracks you have to buy the album twice. From customers and fans point of view that has a very ugly name.
It seems Paul has recorded some rehearsals or all rehearsals.
It is clear that this strange marketing is pulling most fans to do one illegal download if we buy the album only once but we want to get the 2 live recordings.
This is a bit stupid marketing, a greedy and avaricious one.
I wonder if pulling one to committ an offence is illegal or not from record industry point of view. |
