What a thrill for the audience, if they weren´t expecting that!

"Paul Simon appeared and the couple performed several numbers including a duet of "Dream" by the Everly Brothers."

The Everly Brothers never sang a song called "Dream"! The song is called "All I Have to Do Is Dream" and nothing else...

How I wish reporters would take five seconds to google before writing an artivle.

Well...on several bootlegs when S&G sang that song, it is also called ´Dream´ or Dream Dream Dream

Maybe if there existed a songlist for the artists, then they (Mrs. Brickell) had only written ´Dream´ on it, as also on Pauls setlists you only read ´Al´ :)

It hardly makes it right to point to what the song is called on illegal CDs? And I don´t think that the reporter in question is influenced by that fact. More probably he/she just assumed that the title was "Dream" after hearing it. It´s just a common lazyness, to assume thing and don´t check on your sources, that is spreading all over the world. But on the other hand, today it is so easy to check things but still they don´t.

Videoclips of the performance would be something else! Aren´t the photos great?

I must say I also had problems with that song title first, when I read it on some bootlegs...(years ago)

If you type in "everly brothers dream" you first find this page:

s/dream.htm

which makes you believe that is the right title. It seems to be a common mistake...I don´t know more, maybe the everlys also only say let´s play ´Dream´ ??

What I meant - I also first thought the title of that song is ´Dream´...I thought it is a rather unknown song, but from the Everlys. Later I heard it and was surprised it is that well known song, and I was unsure what is the real title.

It was a big hit for the Everly Brothers in the United States in 1958: it was No. 1 on the pop chart, R&B chart and country chart. I think it also hit No. 1 in the UK. There´s no excuse for not getting it correct. The problem started after the first Simon & Garfunkel show with the Everly Brothers in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and a reporter wrote that the Everly Brothers had performed "Dream." Ever since then, newspaper reports and lazy CD labelers have been calling the song "Dream" or "Dream Dream Dream" or some other incorrect title. You´re absolutely correct - when the right answer is available with a few keystrokes, why on earth would someone not take the time to check for accuracy?

The problem goes evan further. The more this incorrect informations are spread on the internet, the more some people who do lazy research believe, they got it right, because they read it on the net.

There are so many misinformations that I have seen quoted on the net for years now and they appear on new articles every now and then.

Mimi,

You´re totally right - often a lot of that misinformation is spewed forth right here in this forum! (LIke last week, when someone wrote that PS left NYC because of 9/11.)

Oh well.

I´ve even known people writing for national newspapers, who went to a concert for a particular singer, get the names of most songs wrong. I think that´s inexcusable.
