 | phil, thanks for the response re his comments about the Jay Z part of the song. I hope to hear it at some point, I feel that part is very unlike him, it hardly seems like a comment on Jay Z hawking clothes should be the culmination of a song that starts with such great lines.
A pilgrim on a pilgrimage, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, his sneaker torn...ahh, thats so great!
and, while I really like his singing, and completely respect Paul for not using tone corrections software, or what ever they have now, I do think he was a little pitchy at times on these songs, bad mikes and distortion not withstanding. Fantastic, nonetheless. |

 | Paul got deeper in his songwriting and being an artist as I ever heard in interviews with him before. But to remember all what he said that is the hard thing for me. Paul himself has a great memory. I was amazed how well he knew everything what happened from the past till the present. When he came to talk about the song Lorraine he got thru the lyrics without a flaw, explaining parts of the songs and got on with the lyrics where he left. The poet Paul Muldoon wanted to help him by finding the lyrics in Paul´s lyrics book but there was no need for that..;-)

 | lol. at one point Muldoon, quotes a line (can´t remember what it was) that "some poet wrote/said" but can´t remember who precisely. Simon immediately cites the poet and poem: "that was philip larkin in ´Aubade´ - then goes on to give his opinion of Larkin. The guy´s amazing. The appearance was definitely weighted toward Simon. I thought Muldoon sat there in awe. |

 | One of the things I do remember is at the end of "Darling Lorraine" (which Muldoon was mooning over when they started) Paul Muldoon saying that that was as great as anything Phillip Larkin every wrote. Paul Simon was very flattered & thanked him. |

 | Listening to it now...Peace Like A River is so great - beside any microphone problems, Pauls voice is wonderful. And a nice reference to Egypt...the river Nil |

 | Thanks, this is SO GOOD, really! Goes well with the Can I Forgive Him style. Clever guitar work, charming voice, great lyrics - never mind the re-use of the Old rhyme cliché, "railway station - destination" as long as he reworks Peace Like A River so well! |
