I have seen on the UK HMV web site that the Old Friends Down under Tour has been released on CD/DVD. If so what details do we have ie is the set list different. I know that in place of special guests The Everly Brothers they did a solo set.
if anyone has details please post as very interested. Hope the DVD is UK Region 2 playable.
Over to you guys

 | I hadn´t heard a peep about this...wonder if it´s true, or a mix-up, or what? I hope it´s real, but it seems so odd to have this come out at the same time as the new Paul Simon & with no previous publicity at all, even on their official website...
Color me highly suspicious & skeptical, but mildly hopeful as well... |

 | It´s actually just the same DVD as 2003. They just added a booklet to mark the Australian tour. It´s a marketing gimmick more than a substantive release.
You can see the full listing at an Australian site:

 | Here´s what it is...
http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=469715
"SIMON & GARFUNKEL Old Friends Live On Stage (2009 Australian exclusive 4-disc ´Tour Edition´ set, comprised of 25-track 2-CD album set, capturing the legendary duo live at New York´s Madison Square Garden in December 2003 with special guests The Everly Brothers, plus 29-track 2-disc Region 4 PAL DVD set, featuring the footage from the shows, including extra material to the CDs, plus a series of clips from Simon and Garfunkel´s rarely-seen 1969 TV Special; picture sleeve with extensive 40-page booklet)."
A nice re-issue and all, but mostly just a re-release of Old material available elsewhere, with nothing new that I can see...correct me if I´m wrong.
Originally I thought it might be something from that particular tour...not just the Old Friends Tour material again...Oh well...for the completists I guess, but not for me personally...

 | You are not wrong ,Linclink.I bought this a few days after the Sydney show for around 25 dollars. It consists of 2 cd´s and one dvd plus the booklet, All the footage is from the 2003 shows plus excerpts from Songs of America and pictures from the 2003/2004 Old Frien tour all on one dvd though. It is the same dvd originally released a couple of years earlier. The booklet is also from 2003/2004 .There is nothing about the Australian tour in the booklet ,even the musicians listed are from 2003 not 2010. I believe the title Australian and NZ Tour Edition is a little misleading though the description does make it clear the footage is from the new York shows.
The only dvd I know of from the Australian tour is a bootleg. |

 | I only got one DVD in mine, no booklet, not CD´s. Maybe they think the
concerts are too much alike but I don´t
think so based on the snippets on
Youtube. |

 | I definitely thinking the record company was trying to cash in. I wouldn´t blame individual retailers´ sites though, they only work on information provided by the distributors. The person adding the entry on their website will likely have had little idea who Simon & Garfunkel are, let alone that the Australian Tour edition is a 2003 DVD filmed in New York. |

 | You are right Wambaugh.
It could be that many customers are angry later, or - that they even did not realize it has been recorded in 2003. (except you have the 2003 DVD already...)
I mean, Art was wearing the same wig and shirt I guess? ;) |

 | Sorry in my previous post I said 2010 for the Australian tour instead of 2009. In the article Bodo refers to the release date of the album is 22 May 2009 and that was almost a month before the Australian tour began! I was aware when I purchased it that it was the 2003 concerts as I already had the dvd but I wanted the boxed set. Totally agree though most people would be fooled especially 18 months after. It was not for sale at the merchandising counter at the concert I went to . Whether they had sold out or not I do not know. Cher Amazon have the boxed set for sale .
I do not think the Australian tour will ever be released officially as though they both did solo spots it was in essence the same show as 2003 though it seemed a lot warmer and they seemed to be really enjoying performing together . Paul in particular seemed in great spirits {Art always is!}
