Very catchy but kinda creeps me out too -- haven´t decided what I think yet. Some of my kids´ music I don´t understand at first -- sometimes it grows on you.

Wow!! Another killer track!! This is certainly better than I hoped for, even after hearing a brief snippet & really digging it on the mini-doc.
Waiting now for someone to post the lyrics...can´t find ´em on the web yet...and...
Hey if anyone makes an MP3 of this, please feel free to send it to "[email protected]". Someone on this forum kindly provided me with a video link of how to do this (from youtube), but we have a serious illness in my immediate family right now, and I´m overwhelmed with clients in my acupuncture practice, back insurance paperwork, other paperwork fomr the practice, and back taxes (all back up from the many brutal challenges that happened over the year & a half period when my dog was passing from cancer...now it´s a two-legged family member with the same issue...prayers welcomed...)

What a great track!!

I must admit I was getting a bit nervous about the hype (and some of the song titles?).

This song is really very good, although got to the end very quickly and was enjoying the track so much I was wanting another couple of minutes of it.

Gosh, his recorded voice is so good (like on Surprise album). Sounds very youthful.

well,

"after I died and the makeup had dried.."that is quite an opening image, obviously talking about the make up put on a corpse..kind of ghastly and funny.

I like the comparison of a person newly dead as the "new kid at school." you´ve gotta learn your way around.

Also, you have to give Paul credit if he is envisioning still hitting on women even after he is dead..and its not a bad line."maybe you maybe me, maybe baby makes three."

Well, I like this song, and I think its rock and roll and clever, but I also think it does not have the emotional resonance (if you´ll forgive me) of his great big mega hits, and I don´t think that is what this will be.
I remember a review for You´re the one where the reviewer said in the first songs a guy is getting Old and in another his wife dies..any teenagers still listening. I think his subject matter is still not what will appeal to the mass market.

Feel free to correct them, but I think these sound like the lyrics to me...

`The Afterlife By Paul Simon

After I died, and the make up had dried, I went back to my place.
No moon that night, but a heavenly light shown on my face.
Still I thought it was odd, there was no sign of God just to usher me in.
Then a voice from above, sugar coated with Love, said, `Let us begin.

You got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in a line.
You got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in a line.

OK, a new kid in school, got to follow the rule, you got to learn the routine.
Woah, there`s a girl over there, with the sunshiny hair, like a homecomin` queen.
I said, `Hey, what you say? It`s a blow, will you stay, by the way how long you been dead?
Maybe you, maybe me, maybe baby makes three, but she just shook her headâ?¦

You got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in a line.
You got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in a line.

Buddah and Moses and all the noses from narrow to flat, had to stand in the line, just to glimpse the divine, what you think about that?
Well it seems like our fate to suffer and wait for the knowledge we seek.
It`s all his design, no one cuts in the line, no one here likes a sneak

You got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in a line.
You got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in a line.

After you climb, up the ladder of time, the Lord God is here.
Face to face, in the vastness of space, your words disappear.
And you feel like swimming in an ocean of love, and the current is strong.
But all that remains when you try to explain is a fragment of songâ?¦
Lord is, Be Bop A Lu La, Ooh Poppa Do
Lord, Be Bop A Lu La, Ooh Poppa Do
Be Bop A Lu La

I Love this song. After listening to it a few times it reminded me of Thelma a little bit. Did anyone else feel the same way?

To the kind forum member with the tech knowledge and fast fingers...thanks for the MP3!!!...
I´ve now got 3 songs from the album proper (Getting Ready For Christmas Day; So Beautiful Or So What; The Afterlife), two more in different versions (Questions For The Angels; Love And Hard Times) on a CD to play in the car...and a nice to like to at least a version of "Amulet"...

For me it makes waiting for April 12th easier, more exciting & fun...but I can´t wait to hear his sequence, and the album itself as a piece of art!
