 | IIRC several tracks from Surprise were released in the weeks leading up to the release. my sense is - they´re doing everything to hype this album - for a big reception, big reviews, potential awards. it´s all good. I trust the strategy. People don´t run out and buy albums the way they used to. the marketing has to keep up with the culture. |

 | Hm, can´t remember which tracks have been released from Surprise before the official date. (excluding F&D)
You´re the one songs have been available in poor quality some days before the release...but not months before. |

 | Have nothing found about those songs in the Old news.
What I see is that we got the release date just 2 months before the release.
Did he play some of the new songs at the NO Jazz Festival? My memory has leaks. Could be that he premiered the songs live there. |

 | The title track to BOTW was played on TV in 1969 before the album was released in 1970, according to my recollection. Don´t remember about the others. |

It´s funny I went back through all the Old posts around early 2006 and found the exact same conversations:
"Best work since Graceland"
"Paulsimon.com is revamped"
"Obscure songs to play live on tour"
"These song titles seem boring"
"I don´t like the cover"
"Will it be released all over the world on the same day?"
Nothing changes... |

 | Yes, I remember like it was day before yesterday. Four full songs were made available through Barnes & Nobles web site.
He did the NO fest just a few days prior to the release of Surprise. |

 | Thanks for finding that Matthew
I would say everything is different, but nothing has changed ;-)
So yes, we got some songs there too. And this time they seem to extend the game.... |
