 | Elton John, Paul Simon and Neil Young tapped as presenters for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions.
You can read the article here: http://www.cleveland.com/popmusic/index.ssf/2011/0 2/elton_john_paul_simon_and_neil.html
I´m a little bummed Donovan didn´t make the cut for induction but oh well, as he says: "Happiness Runs."

 | I wonder who Paul will be inducting. I wish it was Tom Waits (Dr. John would be cool too), but I´m wondering if it´s more likely that it´ll be Neil Diamond...or maybe Darlene Love (though I´m betting Bette Midler will get that honor). I wonder if Neil Young will end up doing Tom Waits...
I´m betting John Legend for Dr. John, and certainly Elton John will do Leon Russell...who´ll be doing Alice Cooper I wonder? |

 | Bruce and Stevie are introducing Darlene Love, I would guess Paul will introduce Neil Diamond. |

 | I once read an interview where Neil Diamond spoke very highly of Paul´s songwriting.
I don´t really like Niel Daimond´s songs myself, I keep thinking I like them, since I remember them from when I was pretty young, but when I hear them they do not really make it for me - sort of how I feel about Billy Joel. |

 | I remember another interview a few years ago when Paul downplayed the importance of the RRHOF because such icons like Neil Diamond had not yet been inducted. |

 | Most of the the guesses were right. Here´s an excerpt from Spinner.com:
"Elton John will induct piano man Leon Russell, with whom he co-wrote the Grammy-nominated album ´The Union´ this past year. Paul Simon will be on hand to induct Neil Diamond, while Neil Young will be on hand to welcome Tom Waits into the fold."
"On top of that, Alice Cooper will be introduced by fellow hard rocker and horror lover Rob Zombie. Dr. John´s piano and vocal contributions to music history will be fittingly honored by John Legend. Finally, Bette Midler will pay homage to vocal great -- and occasional actress -- Darlene Love."

 | Since I am 10 years Old or so I knew only 1 Neil Diamond album:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brother_Love´s_Travel ling_Salvation_Show
It is still the only album I listen to by ND.
I later bought 2 other Best Of albums, and I can understand why some say they do not like him. He made a lot of sweet vanilla music, songs you play at a dinner for 2 in a movie for 2...
But the album Brother Love´s Travelling Salvation Show is different, no orchestra, jsut keep it simple. |

 | The latest 2 albums from Neil Diamond are pretty good, ´12 Songs´ in 2005 and ´Home Before Dark´ in 2008, (this one is even better). With these albums Neil Diamond goes back to his roots.
Like you Bodo I like the Brother Salvations album but also the Jazz Singer. My favourite song is "I am, I Said", a song about himself. I think Neil deserves the R&R Hall of Fame induction.
Article about the induction in the Rolling Stone with some short interviews from nominees, click on the section in blue.

 | Neil Diamond has made some great Love songs, and is flexible in that he can share heartfelt emotions in some music and just have excellent fun in other songs. I have always liked "Kentucky Woman," "I Got The Feelin´ (Oh No, No)," "You Got To Me," and his song "Cherry, Cherry" sounds just like Buddy Holly´s "Love´s Made A Fool Of You." |

 | A message said that Paul has introducted 4 other people before, sorry for my bad memory, but who are they? |

 | From what I can tell on the R&R Hall of Fame website, Paul has inducted Stevie Wonder, The Moonglows and Mo Ostin (a record producer he inducted along with Neil Young & Lorne Michaels).
I´m not sure about who the fourth is, perhaps Neil Diamond ... |
