 | My life zigzags across Paul Simon´s life and his music has been my soundtrack. This new song is uncanny because it talks about a soldier in Iraq and Pakistan. My son just returned from Pakistan and had been in Iraq and the song was released on his birthday. My daughter auditioned for Capeman and we lived in Hell´s Kitchen where the capeman story unraveled.

 | That´s the beauty of an artist like Paul Simon. There are so many of us who can relate to his lyrics and the stories that he tells. There´s a whole kind of psychology to go along with it (confirmation bias), but I agree with you, Paul has this uncanny ability to bring up images so that I feel like he sees my past, present, and future. Like he says in The Cool, Cool River: "we shall suffer no more," so the kind of relationship we have to his music is comforting indeed. |
