 | I´ve just seen a coming soon advertisement for a 2cd/dvd release of Bridge Over Troubled Water 40th Anniversary set. Is this common knowledge? I haven´t visited the site for a while,so if this is Old news I apologise. I assume the dvd is a documentary,or maybe the full Songs Of America tv special from the same period mayhap?

 | well, amazon in America has a listing for a 40th anniversary cd, to be released in March. I found a link to something called EZDVD, I think in australia that has a set with dvd, but the address line looks a little strange on their page (on my browser) No info given about the set, only that it is coming soon. Found it by googling BOTW and 40th anniversary |

 | I feel a little incomplete with the 50 or 60 versions I have of this song / album. I think a 40th anniversary issue might be just the thing. |

 | Yeah,I think given it´s two cd´s,which could mean demos and alternate tracks, and a dvd which hopefully might include a ´making of´ documentary, that it´s not just another money spinner and definitely of interest to Paul Simon fans. Getting Ready For Christmas Day or Only Living Boy In New York-it matters not which one you think more important, because the same man is responsible for both. |

Amazon is now listing it as a 1CD/1DVD package. But the good news is the DVD includes both "Songs Of America" and a brand new documentary about the album. Here´s the product description of the DVD:
"Celebrating the 40th anniversary of this remarkable record, the album will be paired with a very special DVD featuring Songs Of America - Originally broadcast on CBS, this TV special is comprised of footage of the 1969 tour. Songs of America has never before been commercially available since it s 1969 broadcast which TV sponsors refused to endorse because of its distinct anti-Vietnam War message. This re-release also features a brand new documentary about the making of Bridge, featuring new 2010 interviews with Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Roy Halee and more key principles involved with making of the album." |

 | Hopefully it is the complete Songs of America TV special. My recollection is that an abbreviated version of this TV special was included with the 2004 Live on Stage CD/DVD set. |

 | Yeah the Live On Stage DVD had only a few clips, just enough to get people interested in finding out where they came from. If it was a commercial ploy it was smart, but it sure did take a while for an official release of "Songs Of America." |

 | I´m excited now. I Love the BOTW album. I was hoping they´d add Cuba si, Nixon No and whatever Art´s song choice was as bonus material but they´re not on the track listing.
Hopefully the doc will be in format of the Classic Albums DVD series that Graceland was. Can´t wait.
I´ll spend these few months perfecting my BOTW on piano. So excited! |
