 | I´ve seen Slip Sliding Away in a tire commercial and Only Living Boy in a car commercial.
Anyone remember the Old Letterman interview where he expressed disdain about "The Sounds of Midas"? : )
How do ya´ll feel about it?

 | At least what´s been used doesn´t ruin the meaning of the songs for me. "Slip Sliding Away" is by a cover artist while "The Only Living Boy In New York" matches the classic ahhh part with the "inspirational" image of a car. So far I don´t have any complaints but I rarely watch TV so the commercials haven´t become a connotation altering thing for me. |

 | this is what self financing the latest album means.... also, got those kids to put through school. I´m not buying a car because a commercial has a Paul Simon song in it...I might buy a Paul Simon album though... |

 | Ha, thats pretty good, the ad widget underlined buying a car in the message I wrote, and now when I scroll over it I get a link to buy a car! the only thing is needs is to open a soundtrack by Paul! |

 | Cars Are Cars, all over the world...that wouldn´t really be a good commercial line I guess |

 | I think I read an interview with Paul where he said the point to that song was that really things that we think are the same, like cars, are really different, and things that we think of as different, like people, are really the same. That thought might be a little subtle for your average commercial. (in fact, just thinking about it now makes me want to take a nap) |

 | Yeah, we all Love our cars, and we share stories and experiences with them that could never be duplicated or repeated. Ah the stories they could tell. |

 | I don´t mind it either, I´m sure Paul will be very careful what part of his songs will be used. He is too clever to let his songs get ruined by commercials. I don´t think he needs the money to put his kids through school. Paul still gives huge amounts to CHF. It would be very clever to use the money for self financing his latest album :)

 | Did anyone see the "whore-off" between Vampire Weekend and the Black Keys on The Colbert Report yesterday? The two groups were competing to see which one had put its own songs into the most commercials.
In case anyone´s interested: http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-vi deos/370725/january-11-2011/metunes---grammy-vote- --dan-auerbach--patrick-carney---ezra-koenig?xrs=e ml_col |

 | Very funny!
You can´t blame the artists to find other ways to earn their money with all the downloading that goes on these days. Only when you give one or more songs for free you get the attention from the public.
I noticed that Paul´s facebook page has more visitors than ever after the free download of the Christmas song. Let´s hope they will all buy his new album. He would sell 83,434 copy´s at this point :)
