 | I think Graceland should have a special place for fans of Paul Simon not only for the music, but for saving his career. There is every reason to think that he would have gone on making fantastic music without this gigantic hit, but there is no doubt that it greatly increased his visibility and probably his clout and access and ability to do what he wanted to do. Graceland was his "shot at redemption." Hearts And Bones, I think a mixed album though the title track is one of my all time faves, was his commecial "fortunate fall (if I may use a bit of religious lingo) in that it opened up the way for Graceland. | | | | Wambaugh

 | I knew there is many Simon fans who like Hearts And Bones, and there is 4 of Simons best work on it, and one of his best song ever hearts and bones, but to me i allways thought this album seems unfinished. Yto is one of his most underestimate work, i like the arrangement and i think if Dylan have don Hurricane Eye all the critics have Love it. One Trick Pony is also underestimate and maybe is his best arrangement album. Roots is a good album maybe little much culture for me but it´s growing and i think is are close to 4. | | | | linclink

 | I couldn´t actually rank them individually, but I can by tier- top shelf, second shelf...
Level I here would rank as potentially as fave a group of albums as I have. & Level Ia is right behind that very closely. Level II are still great...Level IIa very good, and Level III good.
I only used studio albums- no live albums & no best of´s...but I´ve got to say, either solo or with S&G, there is no shortage of amazing live albums & though there are too many comps, they are all worthwhile.
Level I-
"Heart & Bones"
"Graceland"
"Rhythm Of The Saints" "Surprise"...
"Bridge Over Trouble Water"; "Bookends"
Level Ia-
"Paul Simon"
"There Goes Rhymin´ Simon"
"Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme" "Sounds Of Silence")
Level II-
"Still Crazy After All These Years"
"One-Trick Pony"
"You´re The One"
Level IIa-
"Songs From The Capeman"
Level III-
"Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M."
